I usually call on Wednesdays.. I need to touch base with my congressman to see what his last inquiry resulted in..

IDK its because one of my relatives after there interview they were requesed to send there marriage contract. and after they sent it they stayed in AP for 6 months! till the guy went back to the embassy and asked them whats going on. then the CO told him to wait a minute went check the case and turns out his case was just sitting there the whole time no looked at. so he told him everything is good and he got the visa the next day. so im worried that there waitting to see what we will do. its not like the jeruslam embassy is super busy or anything. i mean the only get 1000 emails a month. compaired to others who get over 20,000. so they need to step it up.

the thing is dont tell me the most we will wait is 1-2 weeks and if worst comes to worst 2 months. when thats not the case. it pisses me off.

Sorry for the rant lol

MQ - most congressmans offices have a website. You can google it and find out who your congressman is (if you dont know) and then look on his site for Immigration assistance. I'm sure there is a release of information form linked to his website - print - fill out and fax it back to the number given.

You should probably call before you fax it back just to let them know you will be sending something over and be sure in your coversheet that you indicate exactly what you would like the congressman to inquire about.

This has been proven to be very effective -- and at this point what can it hurt?

I am SURE without a doubt that the assistance I received for my K1 petition made things go more smoothly.

Good Luck and I hope you get him here soon ... you've been waiting a while!!!

Take Care,

Malarie

Senators and congressman can't actually do much - they contact the DoS/embassy in exactly the same way we do, and they get exactly the same answers we do. The only difference is that they can't be ignored the way we can, and if a case is lying on someone's desk it forces them to at least go pick it up. Additionally, some think that by a senator/congressperson contacting the DoS they might be a little more pro-active in processing the case, but who knows.

My husband's congressman contacted the DoS twice, and his senator's office lost the case file twice. In fact, they still haven't contacted the DoS yet, even though it's been six weeks since my husband first got in touch with them. :bonk: :bonk:

At first we were told he would be getting the visa within 2 weeks. Well, that didnt happen and we started to get the run around. After about 1 month, I believe, the actual words "You are in AP" were said to me. So to answer your question - my congressmans office helped throughout the entire process but most effectively when it came to the interview. A couple of days prior to the interview my congressmans office sent an email to the consulate letting them know one of their constituants filed a K1 petition and the interview was ...... During my fiance's interview this email was mentioned(well really YELLED at him) yikes like I said it was a horrible experience!!

I had contacted my congressmans office just after I filed the petition to get things rolling with them as I knew going into this there could be some possible issues and it proved to be a very wise move!!!

Well, I haven't found any posts when a senator/congressman has been helpful during AP. But I was wondering as to why she felt they were helpful in her case. I've also contacted my congressman / senator for the AP. 4 weeks with congressman and no reply and 1 week w senator and no reply.

But, I've ready many posts when congressman was helpful during the initially USCIS petition at VSC or CSC. My petition went over the 5 month mark. My congressman contacted them on Tuesday and my petition was approved on Thursday. So, I do agree that a congressman office can help at the USCIS level (based on my own personal experience.)
