That's pretty decent of your congressman to make an inquiry every month. I'm surprised the embassy takes so long to reply to you - I only email them once every four or six weeks and they usually respond within an hour or so. The last email I sent them they replied 15 minutes later! I agree, we're just a number on a file to them...although I recently found out that when you call the DoS they actually see the photos too, perhaps the embassy are the same? I do hope that your SO gets her visa well before October!!

I'm actually enjoying being in London for as long as possible - I love this city and everything it has to offer, and as where my husband lives is very different I really appreciate all that there is to do here. I'm also enjoying spending as much time as possible with my friends and family, and my husband and I are planning our summer holidays. As I gave up my job, thinking that I'd got my visa, I have more time to do the things I want, and that time is being utilised. Additionally, this time is being used to research and plan things to do when I do eventually get there, be it work, study, fun, etc, and my husband is very amused that I might know a little more about where he lives than he does :P

Although I'm aware that I probably come across on here as quite frustrated by the whole process, it's because I usually post immediately after I've interacted with the DoS, embassy, or heard how incompetent certain representative's offices can be. Generally I'm actually quite happy, as I don't think moping or being depressed achieves anything. I also believe that everything happens for a reason, and due to family circumstances I would probably choose to be in London at this time anyway - what I don't like is having that choice taken away from me  I would also say that this whole process can either strengthen one's relationship or destroy it, and I think so far it's actually brought us closer together, which can only be a good thing!!

Here's hoping that we all hear good news as soon as possible

even thow i know im going to still be in AP. Calling the DOS ALWAYS manages to piss me off. i get so pissed i swear. i called and asked for an update and she like "Its still pending ma'ma" and im like when was the last date stamp "The last update was mrch 26th" so i ask when can i call back how long is this gonna be SHE's LIKE "I cheked it for you if you have other questions you can email the embassy" First of all last update MARCH 26TH? thats the day i got the latter that im in AP!! WHATS GOING ON! and when i contact the embassy they tell me nothing!

the thing is a relative mine sat in AP for 6 months then asked for another appintment and asked them whats going on th CO told him to wait a minute went to check his file only to find that the ADDITIONAL INFO that was sent was never looked and was just sitting there un touched. then the co told him he would get his visa in a day or 2 and he did. so if they keep this up im asking for another appointment this is crazy!

The CO told my husband everything is 100% we just need this last thing from you and after you you send it, 1-2 weeks or at the worst 2 months youll get the visa and here we are still waitting and they wont even tell me whats going on! my husband has never been to american so what the heck are they checking? he goes from work to the house every day and thats it his record is CLEAN! I GET SOO ANGRY I SWEAR.

MQ - the fact that your husband has never been to the US is irrelevant - his name is almost certainly being checked against an international database of names...the fact that he is a young, Palestinian male probably has more to do with it. If his name is similar to anyone on that database, they check to make sure that he is not that person. Practically every man from MENA undergoes a similar process, so it's not personal. I know it's not much help, but sooner or later you'll be together again, just focus on that. You're lucky, you're 19 - God willing you have a long and happy life together ahead of you

I'm the only Brit - 108 days so far :o Word of advice, keep chasing that senator!! Hopefully won't be as bad as my husband's, but he first contacted them seven weeks ago, and all they've done in that time is lose our file twice. He's now resorted to calling them twice a week, every week, for them to actually get off their backsides and do something!! His congressman, on the other hand, was much better, although even he wasn't too impressed when he got the same generic response that we did, twice!!

We got a relatively quick response from the senator, saying that their inquiry has been sent to the consulate and they will let us know what they hear. So at least our file isn't lost.. Which state is your husband in?

Hi MQ,

I didn't know you were 19 :wow:

Here ya go: http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm?State=IL

Choose a state and visit both listed senators' webpages. Each will likely provide a form for you to fill out with details regarding your case so they can have something to go off of.

2010-02-11 - Interview results: Administrative Processing 221(g) :-(

2010-04-27 - 2nd interview results: Approved :-)

MQ, I had horrible luck with my Senator's office, but my congressman has been helpful.

www.house.gov/writerep/

Put in your zip code & it'll give you the Washington, DC address for your Congressman. However, I would then Google him to see if he has a local office.

You'll have to send a signed release so that they can inquire on your behalf.
