I would recommend waiting at least six months. This is a reasonable time for them to process any security checks needed. I know they say something like 99% are completed in 60 days but.....I would wait at least six months. Keep from frustrating everyone as all your congressman can really do is send an email to the embassy asking the status of your case and the embassy will email back stating it is still in AP, or consular review, or got eaten by the guard dog, or whatever the current status is. A congressman CANNOT speed up the AP they can only be of assistance if there is an unusual problem.

Wow six months! i hope im done way before that. :(

I involved my congressman as soon as I heard AP. And you're right, all they can do is call DOS like the rest of us and get the same answer as the rest of us. If it makes you feel better, go ahead and involve them, but neither they nor the embassy have any authority to move it forward.

You know, others say that when the visa comes after this extended AP wait, the frustration melts away because you're so happy you have received the visa. I don't know about that - I'm pretty pissed off right now, I think I'm going to feel the sting of this for a long time and am planning to raise a campaign for reform once we're settled in the States.

Dear US Government: We are expecting you to finish processing the cases you've been holding for the past several months. You did a great job last week  !

Now that it's a new week and a new month for that matter, keep up the good work and stop screwing with our lives!! :bonk:

MQ, my husband contacted his congressman within a few days of us finding out I was in AP (approximately three weeks after my interview) as it's so unusual for a British woman to be in AP, unlike a MENA male. However, just to re-affirm what Meredith said, all they do is call the embassy / DOS just like we do. Contacting a congresman / senator is the only thing we can do, and even though we know it's of limited use, we do it anyway just so that we feel we did something :(

Meredith, I absolutely agree. I feel (all) our lives are being wasted this way. Being told it'll take X amount of time is much easier to deal with than this daily 'will it, won't it be the day I get my visa?' :bonk:

Please someone tell me good news.If im not ever gonna get a visa,i at least want to know other people are getting theirs.Im having a hard time today.I really worryed about Alen.He will soon be homeless and hasnt heard another word about the job he thought he had.We are both so stressed. It seems so unfair that they made him return to baghdad in the middle of so much fighting.Hes scared but there is nowhere to run.I feel helpless.Im just so sad today.I feel like its all my fault because my us consulate set him up and had them pick him up at there gates. His resident card was not even expired. How they can get away with that i dont know. But it is just so frustrating.Having a bad day today sorry guys.Praying for all of you.I need to hear some good news even if it is not my own visa i wanna see yall get yours soon.

I agree .In fact my fiancee contacted her senator more than 4 times so far .And that senator did not help at all .She just got the same Email like us from the embassy .

But at least the embassy will know that we care and we really want to be together .

I love the dog part LOL its really so funny .I hope that guard dog did not eat my case LOL !

Nothing's impossible . Nothing's unreachable .When I am weary you make me stronger

This love is beautiful .So unforgettable . I feel no winter cold when we are together .

Will you stand by me ?!!!Hold on and never let me go .

Will you stand by me?!! With you i know i belong . When the story gets told .

When day turns into night .I look into your eyes . I see my future now .All the world and its wonder

This love wont fade away. And through the hardest days . I will never question us .You are the reason my only reason.

I'm blessed to find what i need in a world loosing hope. you are my only believe .

You make things right every time after time.....

Will you stand by me ?!!!

I love you so much and i miss you so much more .

I am sorry to read about everything that is happening to you and your fiancee. It seems like the embassies are making it worse by not offering any consultation as to how long this process really takes once you are placed in administrative review or process. I believe most couples could bear the length of their journey if they knew a time turntable as to how long it takes once you are place in AP for whatever reason. I have no "good" news to share but an update to my case is I called the US embassy in Riyadh and spoke to someone their and trust me it is exceedingly difficult to get someone to answer their phone at this particular consulate. Anyways the guy who answered the phone is the same one I have been corresponding with via email. He was very nice and apologetic about everything. Whomever they have checking my fiancee's background haven't been able to complete it for whatever reason and he told me they are following up every month but so far it hasn't finished and every time he thinks they should be finished they tell they are not finished and he is working to get them to bring our case to a closure. He is hoping to have everything wrapped up before June but hey .. I can hope this is the case but until then we are praying for an end and for everyone else's as well....

Congratulations to all those who have received their visa and hopefully more of us will come off this list this month!

Sorry to hear about your SO's situation. I am sure this dreadful wait will be over for you soon. Sometimes things happen when you least expect it.

I am sure this AP will end soon and all this will just be a bad dream. Once he is with you it will all be worth it :).

Due to my impatient nature I emailed the consulate inquiring about the status. I know it was just last week when I got the email he will be hearing from them very soon and he did. They have his passport now and its been two days and the consulate has not handed it over yet to the courier service. I understand there is delay in their visa issuance, and I do hope that it is resolved by now. Guys I just wish I could be more cheerful about it this time. Its just that every time we have gotten so close and I really hope and pray that this is it and no more delays.
