Hi every one I met a girl from Davao (who is not a member of VJ) when I had my medical last week. She had her interview today and she got pink slip even without paying doc verification. She asked them if it's okay not to pay it and they said yes. Maybe because she is only 24 y/o. Well I guess the document verification is a case to case basis and maybe it does not apply to persons who are 24 y/o and below or maybe it also depends on the discretion of the CO.

Document Verification. As a standard measure to validate the relationship upon which the K1 visa petition is based, the Embassy conducts independent verification of civil records directly with Philippine government agencies before a visa can be issued. These local agencies charge a fee or fees for the records search, retrieval services and for making copies of public records. To avoid unnecessary delay in issuing the visa, we strongly encourage you to pay the document verification fee before your visa interview. The document verification fee is PHP650. This document verification fee is NOT the visa application fee. The visa application fee of US$131 must be paid as noted above (Proof of Payment). For specific instructions concerning payment, visit our web site at http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwfdelb.pdf.

Your friend might be applying for a different visa clasification. During my interview, the lady at the releasing area asked for a receipt of my document verification( from Metrobank).

I'm sure she's on K1 because I saw her NOA2 indicating that 129F has been approved and she also showed me the letter from the usem. I don't know what happened but she is so lucky that she doesn't have to go through the torture of doc verification.

It's on the CO's discretion actually.. there was a time when DV is more of the exception than the rule... but now, nabaligtad na, not having to pay DV is more of the exception than the rule... Sinuwerte lang din yong friend mo and good for her. I didn't plan to pay DV in advance before pero nong dumadami yong list ng mga na-AR I was compeled to pay and I was glad I did... Sabi nga nong mga unang vjers na dumaan sa DV AR prison, it is only 650 so why risk it.

 .. somehow this made me laugh... i read an old thread before (last year or 2 years ago pa ata yon na thread) where they were talking about Lorraine asking for vj website from one of the USC when he called to follow up on his fiancee's visa.

As for CR1 people going through the DV, yeah, I remember Roserick and edp333, they were on CR1/IR1 and they were under DV AR hell for 2months... Roserick was even longer. Depende lang talaga siguro sa mood ng CO yon.

I joined Visa Journey like June 8, June 12 ang interview ko, I have no idea about DV. I am clueless when I see forums about it, I just thought DV is only for those who have document issues...I really don't know what is it so I did not pay in advance. I told myself: Kasama ba ako dun? Why there was no instruction from the Visa Interview packet? After all, it's too late for me to pay in advance pa because inetrview will be coming soon.

June 12- sabi nung Consul "Everything seems fine, except that we need to verify some documents, other than that I think everything will be fine." saying that smiling at me.

And so at Windows 38--I was told to pay Document Verification and shipping....well okay...:)

I am 24 yrs old too, but I am still ask for my DV receipt. I guess you're right too, it's case to case basis maybe. :D

this is weird cos if i remember it right, most of the people during my interview was asked about the DV by the officer from windows 37 or 38..

young or old, some of the people ive seen they dint pay DV beforehand so they're asked to pay it at the delbros booth..

did you asked her if she paid P650 in metrobank or you used the word DV? some people kse dont know na DV = P650 in metrobank..

I am totally confused about this DV (document verification), why pay it at the METROBANK if it can be paid at the DELLBROS booth in cash?

Is that a booth inside the US embassy?

Can it be paid the same day of the interview?

Why add another 3 steps...Pay at METROBANK then sending SMS then wait for response.....anytime we add a layer unnecessary complexity where things can go wrong.

I apologize, but am just trying to understand the process....and make some some out of it.

I wish it all have included in the I-129F fee...included the Medical and shots..

or have Web site at the embassy where all this can be paid via WEB by the person requesting the I-129f...not the beneficiary,

But that would it too much common sense....
