Attending fiance's interview - suggestion

I should have mentioned before another very good reason for attending the interview with your fiance. If there is any concern that you will be able to prove your ongoing relationship with your fiance, what better way to do this than by being at the interview with her? At the Brazil consulate we met a woman who appeared to have everything ready for her interview, she even had each document in plastic, so she was well prepared, however she was denied her visa. Supposedly something about inconcistencies in dates as to when the fiances spent time together. She said that she wished her fiance was there, as I was for mine.

Proof of on going relationship may not make as much of difference at other consulates/embassies, and not everyone can take off work or make the journey to the fiance's country. There are many individual circumstances. But if proof of your relationship is a concern, I strongly suggest trying to make the trip.

Also, I was asked questions about my previous marriage. Whether or not the visa would have been approved without me there to answer those questions is an unknown. But it did not hurt our case to be there to answer them. I filed the I129F shortly after my final divorce decree. Which I think was another good reason to attend and explain the circumstances of this. Although, had they not let me sit in on the interview, my fiance was well prepared to explain these circumstance. If you are in a similar situation with a recent divorce, I think this is another good reason to attend if you can.

Thanks for the information Bill.

I would greatly appreciate any other information on the process over at Rio, as my fiance will be going there for her interview (eventually lol).

I'm doing everything in my power to fly out there to go with her. But, any experiences, or information that could help us would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Erik

Good for you but actually it depedns on the consulate - some of them don't even allow the petitioner into the consulate! And I know that in Colombia the fiance/e is definitely not needed - it often takes 10 minutes and they almost never ask anything from the US C. I did not even go as I had done some research and it seemed most people were there just for "Moral support" and didn't think it helped the case at all. May be Brazil is different but you can't go by one rejection - you should look at others experiences and then decide how complicated your case is and if you really need to be there - I saved $1500 + by not going there and we went to Orlando instead! Good Luck

The Russian Embassy doesn't allow anyone except the Beneficiary into even the waiting room or so the site says.

I wont be able to attend Yacine's interview, but the Algerian Consulate isn't particularly harsh... at least that's what I've heard from a lot of people. He'll probably have his after I leave... But you do have some good points...

Rio allows the USC inside with the benefitiary, but also, if your case is strong and you have all the papers in order you shouldn´t have any trouble even going by yourself.

I know of some persons that went through Rio all by themselves and got it without a problem  so I would say.. go just if you think it will give them the moral support :)

As others have said, a lot depends on if you are allowed in the interview are not. I attended the interview in Rio with Elaina but I think it really didn't matter if I was there or not. Are case was pretty straight forward. Neither one of us have been married before or had any children. I was only asked if I like Recife and what I did for work (but I don't think he was even listening since he stamped approved right as I started to answer). The main reasons I went were to see Elaina (I missed her a lot), to provide moral support (she had never traveled before), and to see Rio (never been there before). We had a nice week in Rio and now are having a wonderful time together in New York. I guess if you can go, go for it. If you can't, things should still work out if you have done everything correctly. Just my two cents.

London was so easy. Just me and my two children. No further proof of ongoing relationship was asked for, both children were asked what they thought about going to usa and as we had both been married previously i was asked about Mike's children and if we had met.

good Luck

HI ! Don;t worry about an interview! Evrything gonna be fine ! When i had my interview in the Embassy ,before to come to U.S for to see my fiancee at that time i had absolutely no problem on the interview and was there alone by myself.

There were a lots of fiancees of american men in the embassy at the same day i was interviewed,so noone of them had any problem ,all of them were approved!

In my case, the lady called me by the last name throught the window ,asked me the general information about my date of birth and etc., Also she asked me the question about my fiancee ,how long do we know each other, how many times did we see each other, what was the last time we saw each other, when his birthday is ,how old is he. So basically the generall information was asked. Then, she told me that im gonna receive my visa in a 2 days via express mail.

People, who were working at the embasssy at that were so nice, polite and sweet ,i was very impressed!

I had a desire to get a bunch of roses to them! I was so happy that i was gonna see my fiancee soon and that visa approvement with the nice attitude of the American Embassy Working stuff together just really made my day a big time! :)

Im thinking of going anyway and sitting outside on the curb. I want to be there for her, I really do but the money part too is a big deal. I can get over there and back for under 1200.00. I'll just have to work extra hard and sell some stuff on ebay to pay for the airfare. If so it will be my third trip to Russia in under a year!

If you can get there, I strongly support attending the interview with your fiance(e)/wife. Even if you're not allowed in, you will be there for moral support for your loved one. I was so thankful that my fiance came with me because, not only did he provide company and a strong shoulder to lean on, he was there to celebrate with me when it was approved. And besides.... they were so interested in what he does for a living that they directed most of their questions and conversation to him instead of me, which really took the heat off!

Even though I wish Luis was there for moral support (to me, not to them) and to fly back with me, I'm not worried about attending alone, 'cus I know our case is strong (everything is in order) so I have nothing to worry about except controlling my nervousness and not keeping silent staring at the official. :P
