I might be wrong, but as far as I know Germany doesn't have a fiance-visa system like the US does.

From what I've heard from people who have brought their foreign spouses to Germany, they had to be already married in order to get a permanent residency in Germany for the foreign spouse. So, that would mean that only married couples can go the legal route.

Please correct me if I'm wrong,though...

I don't have the link, but my SO and I read up on this awhile back. If one of you is a German citizen, you can go on a travel visa (or the visa waiver program if it applies to your country), go to the Standesamt and create a request to marry, get married there, and apply for residency at the Auslaenderamt. They don't have fiancé visas. Residency is pretty simple and should only take a few days as long as the German citizen has proof of where they live in Germany and income.

12/05 NOA2

12/27 Packet 3 received

01/19/09 Medical in Hamburg

03/24 Successful interview at Frankfurt

03/31 Visa received

07/09 POE Salt Lake City

AOS/EAD/AP Timeline

08/22/09 Mailed package

08/28 NOA1

10/28 Biometrics completed; EAD card production ordered

11/07 EAD arrived

12/14 Successful AOS interview in Seattle

12/28/09 Greencard arrived
