I read on another site that to be approved for fiancee visa you have to have known your fiancee for 2 years.

I have visited my fiancee, but I have only known her for 9 months.

Is this True ?

Does that mean I am wasting my time sending in a K-1 I-129F petition ?

Is there anything I can do to overcome this ?

Thank you

That site is wrong, plain wrong. Even six months won't raise an eyebrow at the Manila Embassy....unless there is some big age difference or other factors unrelated to how long you have known each other.

I knew my fiance 3 months before I filed for him

This is NOT true. You must have net in person WITHIN the last two years (does not matter where you met in person, her country, your country or any country. I met my fiancee from Ukraine in Prague, Czech Republic quite by accident)

We met last September 19, we filed for the K-1 in March, recived the visa 1 week ago today and we will be MARRIED Sept. 19, exactly ONE year from when we met.

You could fly to a foriegn country today, meet a woman tomorrow and file for the K-1 the same day (at least theoretically, good luck getting all the documents you need in one day) :)

Read the guides here and the USCIS website. There are so many rumors and false information. This is a GOOD place for info and so is the USCIS.

Don't know where you heard that #######, but no it's incorrect what you were told. Do you think you possibly misread? You have to have proof of meeting your fiance WITHIN the last two years.

How or why are you familiar with US Embassy in Manila procedures?

How much age difference is considered "Big Difference?"

It is not their position to 'judge' the relationship based on personal standards or readjuticate the petition.

I think we've all seen enough couples go through Manilla Embassy here that we can safely assume that the time of relationship and age factor alone wont be a problem.

Oh, you naughty girl.

I knew mine over a year before I filed for him.

But, yes, the regulations state you must have been face to face with him within the last 2 years when you file. You fit that regulation.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip
