hey guys,

So here is my deal. I filed the I 130 for my wife back in nov 07 and received the first NOA in jan 08. I just recently received a letter saying that my application has been moved to the California service center. Is this normal? What should i expect to happen next?

I am a US citizen and i had sent the I 130 to the vermont center. According to the processing times listed online it may take up to 10 months or more to get the case completed. i just want to know why they would transfer my case to another center and what do you all think may happen next?

It seems to be normal. There are many other cases from late 2007 that have been transferred over to CSC. I have even heard of a few approvals that have come of these cases transferred to CSC from VSC. Go to this topic NOA1/NOA2 " http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...ic=118338" then follow to tab 19-22. You should read about the many filers who have been tranferred to CSC, and as i said, some have already been approved since arriving to CSC.

I even recommend you take a look at whisper2me excellent spreadsheet. In this spreadsheet, you can find which cases have been transferred to CSC.

Good Luck! I have high hopes that you will be approved soon.

It seems like VSC transfer certain cases to the CSC whenever they're backed up. I would look at it as a positive instead of a negative because it could mean that you could be approved faster than having to sit at someone's desk in the VSC to get approved.

it is standard that you follow the processing time based on the California Service Center since your visa application is there but not necessarily for your case since your applying for I-130 (Petition for Alien Relative) for your wife.

in this case, your application is "current" since spouse of USC has this priviledge. Meaning even if you filled later than other people waiting in line, they accomodate this type of visa application first.

dont worry even if you case was transferred. i have heard numerouos positive feedbacks about how efficient CSC handles applications, plus, i believe they have more personnels working here compared to other service centers since hundrends or maybe thousands of visa application pass through CSC, ours for one went through CSC, no problem..so just sit back, do your thing and relax.

I always found the processing times posted by the USCIS to be misleading. I think doing a timeline search here on VJ will be more accurate, that's why it's so important to fill out your timeline. Since your case was transferred from VSC to CSC, you can also see if there is a thread dealing with recent transfers and see what other people in the same situation have to say. Or you can start your own thread.
