Timeline

I been thinking about it and I am concern that last time I saw my hubby has been too long (1 year 6 months). Reason it's been too long was that last year (2007) I was laid off from my job in October and I had to find another one fast so I would have the history and income to sponsor my Husband. I couldn't go to see him for that reason. Then when I did have a scheduled trip in January 2008 (bought the ticket and was packed and everything), I had to cancel my trip 3 days before because of Deathly violence that broke out in my husband country and my husband was scared for my safely so I couldn't go. Then again, we planned for me to go in May for our anniversary, and then the deathly violence broke out again for much longer and worst, really affecting my husband's resident area. So what I am asking is, would this be a terrible effect for my husband interview?

I do have an email that I send to the US embassy in Beirut during this time for the concern of my husband's safety, and an Expedite attempt with USCIS as proof of the violence. Should I include this with the package I am sending my husband? Or do you think I should not worry about this as much?? I am starting to be concern about things like this... Freaking out here....

Please advise anyone!?!?!? :help:

Nita

PS.. Good news is that my habebe got his Interview appointment letter today and he was extremely HAPPY to have this in his hands!!!

Since you can't do anything about the amount of time that has passed, all you can do is arm him with all of the information you do have in case they do ask about it. Just be prepared for his interview.

I'm sure there are people out there who have had similar lengths of time w/o seeing one another, especially since this fool process is taking longer and longer. And surely the person doing the interview will be well aware of the violence and will understand a husband who protects his wife by telling her no, it is too dangerous.

Definitely was thinking the same thing...credit card receipts for paid tickets would also help. You don't want to leave any doubt in the interviewers mind. Good Luck!

YOu brought up a valid point, so i called the CSR at USCIS and she said that the 2 years apply for before filing. You had to have seen them within two years before filing. While it is pending, the two years do not apply. I wish us all a speedy processing. :star:

Holly bully guys. Mine is only 1 year :crying: and it sucks.

i guess sorry for all of us.

By not seeing your spouse doesn't really mean you are not in a constant connection with him or her. So more proof you gather better off you will be at the end.

we should be all fine.

Cheers guys,

Obviously if at all possible it would be best to make another trip now. Standard interview question is how many times you've met.

Better to do it now than after problems pop up at the interview.

I WISH I COULD :crying::crying:

Unfortunately we can’t afford it now, my husband interview is coming up in about 1 month and it’s too expensive to go, about $1,700 the lowest I could find! Even with my cancelled trip credit it would be $1,000 more. I would rather try to save this money for when he comes here (his ticket will be about $1,000), since he won’t be able to work for a while. I wish I could go!! :crying::crying:

well we met twice already and both time were over a month long, and we talk on the phone everyday like 2 or 3 times a day, Beside chatting and text.

I hope this will not be a problem

Dude they are married. :-) I don't think it will make one bit of difference. They might ask and they just say what happed to prevent her from going. It seems that we do put our life on hold during this process, but the bills and petition fees have to get paid somehow. Nita, just explain it.

I don't know where the two years came from, but for K1 visa holders they must have met in the preceeding two years face to face before petitioning, unless for religious reasons or it would cause hardship to the petitioner. There is nothing about since applying or before the interview.

INSHALLAH it will be fine, I was just wondering if anyone else had gone so much apart, and what the outcome of the interview was in regards to this....

"Dude they are married"

Are you implying married people don't scam? Number of times peeps have met seems to make a BIG difference in proving a bona fide relationship.

HI Nita

I think that should be all the more reason for them to grant him the visa faster ...

It is very common with all the unpredictablity around , to not see folks for a year or more ...I am sure they understand that ...Just tell them the truth ...

Best of luck with the interview

We have a bona fide relationship/marriage... I have to much information on that. Bank accounts, credit cards, insurance papers, Tax returns, emails, phone bills, calling cards, texts, cards etc....

Just because we couldn't see each other for over a year doesn't mean we are scaming!!!
