Hello there ,

have been reading all the threads regarding the AOS process and the particular matter about the I-693 form medical exam and shots etc.

To file for the AOS u need the package including the 693 form,

Reading various threads and the actual procedure outlined here at visajourney im still slightly confused.

Specifically in that outline here.. it mentions filing the 130,485,765 and 693 together

Now starts the waiting game. If you filed for an EAD, your spouse will get their Employment Authorization Document approved in 30 to 90 days and will be scheduled to have their picture taken and to have their EAD card issued.

After your spouse has received their EAD, the real wait begins. I-485's can take several months to couple years for approval, and often leaves the petitioner feeling completely hopeless of ever receiving approval. DO NOT GIVE UP! Though it seems like forever, the CIS will eventually get to your petitions!

Your spouse may also be required to have a medical sometime during the AOS process. The medical must be done by a CIS accredited doctor. Your CIS office should give you a list of CIS accredited doctors in your area, if not check with your local office to get one. The medical exam can cost anywhere from $100-200 dollars, many physicians will not take a check, but only accept cash. Be prepared of the cost before your spouse gets this done. It would be wise to collect their vaccination information before going to the appointment as the doctor will need to have record of them. At the appointment your spouse will be tested for TB, AIDS and Syphilis. If they do the skin test for TB, they will be required to return to the CIS doctors office to have the site checked before they finish the exam paperwork. Note: Some CIS Offices allow you to schedule your appointment when you want, as long as it is done before the AOS appointment, check with your CIS office to see how they handle CIS medical exams before filing your AOS paperwork.

it clearly states u file *all* the forms together... including the 693 and once the process is underway you then get contacted regarding the medical exam where the shot history is checked, with any missing shots to be administered, although not all shots are required for the AOS to finish (if times between shots or age related issues ie. not old enough for shot etc )

but reading some threads many have said you have to get the medical done with an accredited CIS physician and *ALL* shots taken before you can complete the 693 form..which then holds up the AOS filing etc.

What exactly is the case ? do you have to go through the whole thing of getting ALL shots taken before being able to file the form 693(the whole 130 485 765 & 693 process)

or is it like outlined in the visajourney post where u fill in what u can on the 693 and file with all the other forms relevant to AOS petition work etc.. and when it comes to the AOS part of the process you get contacted about the medical and go from there with what if any shots are required..

Thanks in advance for any help/info/advice

Yes it is done by a civil surgeon. If you had your overseas medical within 1 year when you apply for AOS, then all you need to do is contact a CS to have your vaccines completed (if not complete) and that CS will transfer your data from your DS-3025 to an I-693A.

Also you do not need to file I-765 and I-131 with your I-485 unless you need them while your I-485 is pending.

The separate I-693A does not exist anymore (effective May 2008). It is now integrated with the I-693 as Part II, Item 5

YMMV

You do not fill in anything on the I-693, that is done by the civil surgeon.

Ok ... i forgot to add all these forms will be filed concurrently being in the States..and so havent gone through any medical linked with the visa process is that still the case? ie. dont fill in anything on the form? not even name etc... i know the medical test/shot info should & only be filled in by the surgeon.

from this sites own information:

*when it comes round to the AOS part of the process... you will be asked to attend a medical etc..and checks for shots that have/havent been given to the applicant.. *

so thats stating u attend the medical "After filing all the forms including the 693 medical one* so thats leaving the form blank..sending all of the forms in... and when the AOS stage comes ,contacted about the medical and the surgeon and when attending that medical the form is then completed?

Or get the medical done..and all missing/required shots done & upto date..surgeon completes the 693..and then u can file the 693 along with all the other forms.
