do we have any mena members in the path of the storm in Florida? .

Me here in Florida - Tallahassee; Polar Bear in Miami...which I'm sure she's definitely feeling the storm's effects right now; Wahrania in Orlando...she might be feeling something in a day or two.

But to add to the delight, I work for the state agency that manages disasters in Florida, so right now I'm "voluntarily" answering phones for the Florida Emergency Information Line. Should be fun, fun, fun.

Olivia-
I will be with you when classes start back, , I have three classes and two big internships that I have to finish and the Doctor in charge is Dr. Scott, her and I see things very differently, so I am not looking forward to even seeing her. I have to get my courage up and write her today on my internship, I would rather put daggers in my eyes than write her. Of course I will have to kiss her ### and play nice, just hope I don’t end up in some awful place, but she is the one that will decided where I will do my internship, she lets you think you have a choice, but she will have the final word. OMG, why why, before I took my break she had gotten into local politics, I was so praying that she would be too busy with her new hobby that she would be too busy to be head of the internships, WRONG, so now I have to suck it up big time and write some kind of ####### that sounds professional, while trying to be very kind and sweet. Oh well I will do this and pray I end up with a good placement.

Terrie - sorry about your cousin.

Your furniture story makes me laugh though...it reminds me when my DH and I got new furniture after a year of marriage.. It was somewhat modern and I asked my mother what furniture style we had before, which was an eclectic mix. She said out of nowhere..."Early Marriage".

YAY! I can VJ from work! Woohoo..its not blocked for now.

Okay...So...we are moving into our new home this coming Friday and each weekend for about 2 weeks now...we have been bringing over small loads of boxes, etc.

Well, Saturday morning we head over and I'm in my new gorgeous bathroom...enjoying the double sinks...enourmous tub...lovely shower...and I look back again at one of the double sinks...hmmm..."whats that a rubber band?" NOOOO!!! It's a scorpion and its ALIVE! :o

Okay, so I know I live in the desert and YES I know there are scorpions here but I have lived here almost 5 years and have never EVER seen one! (only on tv...haha). What am I going to do? I feel like I will never ever be able to sleep again. I don't even want to move into the house!

Any suggestions before my husband and my father kill me? I'm worried about the babies and about getting bitten myself! :crying::crying:

Living in the desert definately has its risks! One of my "things" is to always check my shoes before I put them on....be aware of dark corners....check your cabinets...

Make sure your patio doors (if you have them) are closed...those little suckers can squeeze in. If you have throw rugs check them also....

Just take caution and do a fast check! Good luck!

I was looking in youtube and searched "scorpions". Ew. They have tons of videos showing fights between scorpions and other things like tarantulas, black widows, rats, etc. Other than one video I'd have to say scorpians kick azz! I'd hate to have found one in my bathroom though......good lord I'd be thinking it would crawl on me in the middle of the night!!!:blink:

Sending this guy over to take care of those nasty critters!

I need him to come today! LOL

I just found out there is no way to kill them :( Only to smash 'em! You have to kill their food source (crickets) and then plug up any holes outside your home. So I'm calling around now for exterminators. :(

I'm still upset and don't want to sleep in the new house!

Current State: MISSING BABIES I wanna go home.... :clock:

I am ready to start checking things...just I have a fear for the babies...they say the "bark" scorpions are deadly to babies and elderly!

Just got back from meeting a friend for lunch - oh the pleasures of slow summer and not having my team with me. I met my friend in Chinatown and had the best Vietnamese food there - beef with fresh ginger and scallions - yummy...Now two hours later I'm back at work oh well, three more hours and I'm out...

All Florida peeps, I'm thinking of you - called my aunt who lives in WPB but haven't heard back from her. Maybe I should visit and look "Fay" into the eye...I know it's not a joke and all but I've always had this strange fascination with hurricanes - there is just something that I find amazing about the unrelenting forces of nature.

I'd like to say, "Come on Down, Dorothy!" as I'd love to meet you. But for now, I'll refrain...this is not the time to be in WPB, as Miami and Ft. Lauderdale are anticipated to get 8 inches of rain today. :o So, you can imagine WPB might not be too different. I hope your auntie is ok.

Good Morning all.

It's Monday indeed but I don't mind much since my entire dept. is out on vacation so I'm all by myself. The weekend was great but passed a little too fast. My meet up with Noura was great, tad too short but I had a blast - she is an amazing woman...

Wishing everyone a great week ahead with plenty of good news - both on visas as well as babies...

(((HUGS)))

Dorothy

I'm back! I had a wonderful meeting w/ D and as she said, *it was too short*! I think she's a pretty amazing woman and a lovely lady as well. We must definitely get together again.

Mom & I had a grueling trip on the way (mechanical problems delayed our flight over 4 hrs- got in at 1:30am instead of 9:30 pm), but my sister's 50th bday party was so much fun and she was really happy we were there. Our flight home was smooth and uneventful (Alhamdulillah) but I've been up since 3am and it's nap:30.

Nawal, got ur msg, but the cell reception @ my sis's house is horrible. I sent you a text back. Sorry to hear about the creepy scorpion and I hope you're making it through the day alright even though you are missing those babies.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..................... :sleepy:

btw, Twila is in WPB too... hope everyone in FL is doing ok.
