Generally, international flights allow more baggage than domestic USA flights, but check with the airline. From Kiev on the airline we chose each passenger is allowed 2 bags (for no extra charge) at 20 kilos each. On my last two visits I have been bringing an extra suitcase and bringing things back. You are free to bring anything you own, in any amount if value, provided it is not illegal items. You ARE moving here so there is no concern that you are bringing in goods for resale, etc. You can bring any of your property you want. I already have all my fiancees jewelry here, no problems.

In Kiev, on my last trip, I had one bag at 21.6 kgs and they said nothing, but the lady in front of me had a bag at 29 kgs and they kicked her out and she had to empty some things out. So Kiev, at least that day, with that clerk, gave me a little extra. Try to avoid heavy liquids, papers, books, etc. Better to send that stuff by slow boat from a shipping service and don;t load your baggage down with shampoo, hair conditioner, cosmetics, etc. that you can easily and cheaply replace here!

If those were small boxes then I do not see any problem. Do you really need the boxes? If you do not really need the boxes then you could just put it in one pouch and put them all in a jewelry box when you're already in the US.
