I just can't seem to find a topic about this.. I'm planning to have my unexpired Phil. (green passport) changed, with my maiden name to married name. And with the new memo or project of the Phil government regarding changing the passport to a more secure one, read here-- aka the maroon passport, I'm just clueless how it goes, my mind is pretty much set to sending the application by mail, but they don't allow that anymore.

Anyone had their passport changed? how does your experience went?

do I have to make an appointment to do that?

how long does the fingerprinting and picture taking goes?, I mean is there a line?

I'm talking about going to the embassy in Washington, because that's where my jurisdiction is.. Anyway, thanks for replies!:)

Not really, but my only time to get one is when hubby gets home next month for his R&R from work, we can drive down there, and it's a 6-hour drive. I can't drive yet. Also, it's for Identificatin purposes, since I don't have any US id yet showing my married name. Thanks for the link

Can I keep my green passport if I apply for this one?

How about going to the nearest Embassy to get your passport ammended? They will just issue a stamp on the second page of your green passport t with dry seal saying that your green passport is meant to be read by your married name. It cost 100 pesos here in the Philippines as of February 2008 when I had mine ammended.

It's faster than renewing it, that way you will enable to keep the green "jurassic" passport as well with all of your VISAs and trip stamps:)

For your question if you can keep your green jurassic passport when you get the E-passport....hummm..I have no idea..I think it's more likely that you will surrender the green jurassic one....

You're welcome.

I had mine changed in Washington DC. I dont remember the link but you can type philippine embassy washington dc and the website will show. I am in Florida so I just mailed my passport to them with the application form and other required documents. The instructions are in the form itself . Together with the change of passport I also had my marriage reported to the embassy so the same will be recorded in the NSO of the Philippines.

Goodluck

2. What do I need to renew my Philippine Passport?

The Consulate is receiving applications for the new Machine Readable Passport (MRP) beginning June 02, 2008. The old “green” passport is no longer issued.

Each applicant must personally appear at the Consulate, except for minors 8 years old and below and senior citizens 65 years old and above, and bring with them the following:

Duly accomplished passport application form

Most recent Philippine passport

One (1) copy of the passport data page(s)

For brown passports – copy the pages which show the data and picture of the applicant

Two (2) identical photos taken within the last six months of size 4.5 cm by 3.5 cm on a Royal Blue background. Complete details on photo requirements for the MRP may be viewed at www.dfa.gov.ph/consular/PHOTO%20GUIDELINES.pdf.

USPS Express Mail Postage Stamps

It takes about six (6) weeks to process the MRP as the approved applications are sent to a central processing facility in the Philippines.

If the applicant’s last passport is the brown one – which only shows the applicant’s middle initial, – a copy of any VALID IDENTIFICATION which shows his/her WHOLE MIDDLE NAME must also be provided. Acceptable forms of identification are:

Birth Certificate

Marriage Certificate

Baptismal Certificate

State ID or Driver License, or

Permanent Resident Card (Green Card)

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!
