Hi....everyone

Can someone help me with question I have with my marriage license. My wife put the wrong maiden name of her mom which is not the same as her birth certificate.

1. Will that be a serious issue at the interview we have next month?

2. Would they ask for the correction in marriage license to RE-submit all paperwork? The problem is this can only be done at the state level, not at our local court house.

Thanks

Ron

Do you mean the marriage certificate? Marriage license is something you apply for before marriage; after you are married you receive a marriage certificate from the county recorder stating that you are married.

09-02-2005 Applications for AOS, EAD, and AP received by MSC

10-21-2005 AOS fingerprint notice for 12-08-2005

11-07-2005 AP approved

12-05-2005 Infopass appt at San Jose office for interim EAD -- Refused, because it is already approved by MSC on 11-07-2005

12-07-2005 Attempt at interim EAD at San Francisco office -- no go. Back to San Jose, where CSO (chief station officer) tells they will contact MSC via email to request permission to issue interim EAD

12-08-2005 Biometrics for AOS and EAD. Having no EAD appt letter was no problem (used EAD NOA)

12-15-2005 EAD arrived in the mail

12-24-2005 Received interview letter; interview scheduled 03-01-2006

01-28-2006 Received replacement SSN card in married name (5 wks since application)

03-01-2006 AOS interview -- approved; received stamp in the passport

03-13-2006 Green card arrived in the mail

So, the mom's name is wrong! I don't think that matters because in some states they don't even put the mom's name on the certificate. I am sure you can get it corrected if you want but I think its a non issue in my opinion. (Ours just has our names and no mom or dad.) Good Luck

Are you talking about marriage license application or license itself?

I'm in colorado, our marriage license and certificate are in the same page(not supposed to split it), however neither of those has parents' names.

ask your record & clerk office or someone has a marriage certificate in your area, and see if your state put parents' names in the certificate.

Yes our marriage license application has our parents' names but I didn't need that to apply for AOS

if you want to get correct it though, it will only cost whatever you paid to get your license(ours was $10) again.

good luck!
