time limit for AoS?

Is there a deadline for filing for AoS after entry on a k1 visa? I've read of many people waiting several months after entry before filing, but wonder if that's fine, or do they run into problems? Is it considered an overstay if you don't file by the time your k1 expires?

There really is no deadline for filing for AOS, as long as you marry within 90 days of entry into the U.S. with the K-1 visa.

It is advisable to file as soon as you possibly can, but it is not necessary to do so by the expiry date of the K-1. Technically, the K-1 is not valid after your marriage anyways.

and may i also add, ur medical is only valid for a year so if u wait for more than a year on filing AOS thats additional payment there since u need to do medical all over again...goodluck

Thanks guys. We'll be filing within a month or 2 and will be just past the expiration of his k1. This makes me feel better.
