Interesting....because it was so many years ago and one of the few dreams I remember after all these years. My other grandmother (mom's mom) had a dream of my oldest brother 'walking up stairs on clouds' just days before his untimely death at the age of 9.

I also once had dreamt about some very close friends whom I had not been in contact with for many years. In the dream, my close friend who I grew up with and considered my sister - I saw her alone with a child and living home with her parents (last time I had seen her was at her wedding years before). I later found out from one of my brothers who ran into her mother, that her husband had committed suicide. She and their only child were currently back living with her parents. I'm thoroughly convinced that dreams are much more than our anxieties manifesting themselves into visions of the mind. There is definitely something more to it.

I totally agree. Gosh, I could tell you so many stories. The one about your brother, though, reminded me of a friend from years ago. She and her husband were laying in bed one morning, talking. Then they both saw her deceased father at the bedroom door saying "It's alright. He's with me." They looked at each other then went to check on the baby. He had passed away in his sleep.

Ohhhhhhhhhh my... :((F) I've read about many people have similar experiences. I actually find comfort that we have some kind of connection with the deceased. From what I read in the book about a man who can communicate with the dead, our loved ones are very close to us...often right next to us, especially in times of need.

Oh bless, what a sad story. Moved me to tears. (F) And also what you said, Steven. About the dead loved ones being close. As you probably know, my Mom is very sick and she might die soon. It's so hard on me, especially because I feel like she is the only person that I have history with and who knows me best. I find comfort in your words, although they just moved me to tears.

I'm so sorry. (F)

No - and I seldom dream at all (that I can remember).

I'm the same way. Normally if I remember one it's something really bizarre.

I had a dream about #6 one time and we were sitting around in a boardroom type thing at a massive table drinking brightly colored cocktails and talking about what meds we take. Neither of us even takes any meds

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

I had an Irish friend who's father died right around the time my father died, and he came to visit the entire family the night he passed. She said she saw him at the edge of her bed, just staring at her (she knew he was dead at this time), and she asked him what he was doing and he said he had many people to visit that night... he chatted for a bit and then continued on.. she confirmed the next morning he had seen other members of her family..

Then she saw him again at the funeral.. sitting up in the balcony while the funeral (open casket) was taking place.. in the part of the service where the casket was closed, he left the balcony and got in the casket..

CREEPY I thought.. but it brought her a tremendous amount of comfort at the time as I recall!

When my mom still pregnant with me and actually passed a week of her due date, she dreamt my aunt(my dad's sister) who had recently died. She saw that aunt standing right next to her hospital bed and told my mom that she will have a girl next day and well I was born the next day. My aunt even suggested my mom to name me as "Papdi" (petal in Bangla language) and a lot of my family members actually call me with that name but I don't know why my parents never officially gave me that name. My mom is no more, so I can't really ask the reason.

I wish I could see my mom someday, but never have really. All these years, 16 years to be exact of her passing but I have never dreamt about her.

Here's the book I read about 20 years ago..."We Don't Die: George Anderson's Conversations With The Dead" by Joel Martin. From what I recall, he said that we can communicate to our deceased loved ones through our dreams, although I'm not sure how to initiate the contact. There were some really unique ways that he mentioned of how the dead will communicate to us....sometimes a smell, like the scent of roses, or subtle sign of some kind. They're focus seemed to be to let us know that they want us to be at peace with their death and to let us know they still love us and are with us. It's a very comforting thought, especially for anyone who has experienced a loved one dying. (F)

(it's a great read for anyone interested) :)

Awwwww. I am so sorry, Ms. Squirrel. (F)

And the posts also reminded me on a dream I had a few years back, when I was still living with my Mom in an apartment building. I dreamt that the neighbour from upstairs knocked on our door. When I opened, he didn't say anything and only pointed at the other neighbour's door (an old couple lived there). The door opened and you could not look into the apartment, behind the door it was pitch black. The next day we found out that the husband, who lived with his wife in this apartment, had died during that night. Very sad.

Wow. That's really eerie.

It's this part that's confusing me, though:

When my mom still pregnant with me and actually passed a week of her due date, she dreamt my aunt(my dad's sister) who

I was talking about the dream which my mom saw, I have never personally dreamt any dead relatives. When my mom was pregnant with her first child, that is me, she dreamt of my deceased aunt by her side.

My mom died when I was 10, I am 26 now, so its been 16 years that she has passed away.

I believe that our dreams do predict us and do warn us about something.

I had a dream years ago that my Ex and I broke up. We actually never had any fights, and our relationship was just perfect. We were talking about getting married and etc and neither of us could ever predict that we will go separate ways. That week I dreamt on Tuesday and Thursday that out of nowhere we broke up ( i still remember those days that i had this dream) and on Sunday of the same week we got into a huge fight ( our first fight ever) and instantly broke up.

If one of the dead relatives would come and see me at night and talk to me, i would have a heartattache on the spot. I am very very scared of dead people. When my great grandma passed away 8 years ago, I couldn't sleep at night for months. I had my TV and lights on all the time at night. The first few weeks I literally slept with my parents in their bed. I am even afraid and scared to go to funerals and funeral homes. I do not get close to the casket to say good bye to the dead person cause i know i'll be dreaming of it later and will loose my sleep over it.

The best way to get past your fears is to face your fears. When you see a body you will realize that it is just a shell, and that the person who once occupied it is now gone. It's not as bad as you might think.

You might be right, but I will not even try to face that fear. Even creepy to think about it
