phone cards to call mexico!!!

hello everybody?

is any of you looking to get a visa for a mexican national? if so, what type of phonecard and/or cell service do you use to get the cheapest rate? i use alltel and get 10 cents per minute.

any advice? i'm looking for something cheaper!

The cheapest way for you to call is with Skype - voice over internet. It's super easy to use - download the free program and if you want to call computer to computer (if you fiance has a computer with internet access), it's 100% free. The only thing it will cost you is a headphone with a microphone - about $25. If she doesn't have a computer, you can still use Skype's program called Skype Out . You still use your computer and headset (in place of your phone) to make the outgoing call, but you can call cell phones or landlines for .02 cents a minute. You need to buy credit in advance on your credit card. It's very easy and is by far the cheapest thing to do. My fiance and I use in (he's in Mexico) and it has been a lifesaver. I don't think it costs more than .02 cents a minute to call most places -- it's not just for mexico. Check out the website: www.skype.com.

I think you 0.10 cents is a good rate .alot less than cuba on average

My fiance is from Mexico too. I use pingo to call him. Where he lives it's about $.07-$.08 a minute. If your fiance is from Mexico City or Guadalajara I think it's like $.02 or $.03 a minute. Check it out at www.pingo.com. I've used it for well over a year now and from what I've seen, it's a pretty good deal.

To call Manzanillo, it's $.09/minute for me either on the landline or cell (requires to have Int'l calls enabled).

If your loved one has broadband internet in their home then I recomend Vonage. I sent Luz a vonage adapter and now she has a local number! I can call her and she can call me as much as we want! They have 2 different accounts. For $25 you get unlimited calling in the US and Canada and for $15 you get 500 minutes of outgoing calls. Incoming is unlimited. Just order an adapter from Vonage, tell them to make the number local to you and send it to your loved one. Works great for me and MUCH cheaper than calling cards. We talk for hours each day!

Just a thought - if you both have Broadband internet access, why not use Skype since it's totally free? The only difference is using a headset instead of a phone which might bother some people. I prefer Skype since I've had lots of connection issues/problems with Vonage and you can't beat TOTALLY FREE!

I used to use Skype, but I have been using Yahoo Voice because Skype limits the amount of times you can use a certain payment option (the other options become available again, but even they say they don't know when).

I've had very little problems with Yahoo Voice, and my fiance lives in the middel of the Pantanal in Brasil. Like Skype, the Yahoo Messenger with Voice is free of course.

Try http://www.idt.net/about/ idt global net has good deals 10 cents a min to Jamaica. I think its like 3.6 to 4.7 cents a min to Mexico. Check it out. Yahoo calling is the cheapest but my fiance doesnt have a computer and I can talk for 45mins and only spend 5 bucks.

They have been the best for us ! 1.7 cents a min/to the UK. I think Mexico is 1/cent per minute.

I have had even greater pricing & GREAT connections since going direct with them rather tha using their card.
