PETITIONS TOUCHED - How how you know?

I always read here about people aying their petition were touched again..

How do you know that and what exactly does that mean???

You know based on the online status of your petition. You need to make an account at the USCIS website, put in your receipt number. If the "last updated" date changes, that means someone has "touched" your case.

This often means someone has been looking at your case, although it doesn't guarantee that anything is happening. It's a good predictor though.

Mine was touched just a little over a month ago, and is still not approved. It looks like sometimes it doesn't predict anything.

I was touched 3 times in a row in less than 2 weeks, and now it's been 3 weeks since the last touch and we've heard no news, so I guess it's a good sign but rather random.

No pattern. Only time a date went in for us was when it went into the system and when it'd been approved.

Otherwise, nothing.
