Can I just say I that "americans don't care about the world cup"? is a load of #######?

we missed the whole first half running around trying to find a pub/bar that was showing the world cup that wasn't filled up and not admitting new people? This was for an 8am kick-off, and we left the house at 7:30am.

wow! thats weird.....how cool...... (not that you missed the first half tho  )

thank you-that is a load of #######

I know a lot of people that are following the games-I just wish the American team coud play against these teams more often-we just aren't getting enough practice.

I am at a new part-time job now-I would much rather be out with the girls-having a drink & watching all the footballer's.........................I mean the matches ;):P

Did you check everyone's birth certificate and was there one U.S. born black person there watching? Most of the people I work with are black and you would think that they might take an interest with Ghana doing well. No such luck. All the sports talk has been about the NBA Championship and baseball. If I hadn't said something they might not have even known the World Cup is being played.

It's almost worrying how badly they can play and still progress (what happened to possession play?) and the commentator was right when he made the comment it might actually be scary if they put together a good game

True. I'd like them to win but they're playing so badly it's a surprise no one has kicked their arses so far. Always next time...

I'm pretty sure there weren't many black people in the pub -- however my assistant at work is black and she came in late the day the US played Ghana with big eyes saying she thought I would understand -- I just laughed and said if she wanted to watch any game it would be on in my office.

I don't count because I was born in South America, but I saw some US-born blacks interested as well ... I am guessing because of Trinidad. They know Trinis at work and at play and they can identify and ask questions and not feel "dumb". I say in another five years or so more Americans will be into football in general and the World Cup in particular.

I agree

Americans will definetly be more into soccer !!!!!

I heard the US coach saying that he would like the guys to play against these teams more often-playing against other US teams that suck isn't really good practice for them(it is a joke).

I wonder what will happen to increase excitement about soccer? New coach? They finally start showing it on TV?

well, the england/ecuador game was ok... not terribly exciting, but it was a pretty goal by beckham

i havent watched portugal play before, but it seems to me that they are playing rather nasty in todays game against the netherlands... some things arent even being called as fouls that look worse than what some players have gotten red cards for in other games... i hope it gets better

netherlands are looking good in the middle of the field to me... but they need to follow thru with their set ups and actually get some goals

exposure is everything... i had no clue about world cup soccer, much less how into soccer every other country in the world is... but now, because of my Tobe and because we can actually SEE games and the fans, i think it will catch on quickly here in america

Portagual 1-0 at half.

That red card was stuipd. He was in no way near anyone why shown a 2nd yellow then a red.

he made a hands ball... it was obvious and deliberate... he stuck out his hand to the ball... isnt he suppose to use his foot? isnt that why its called "football"?

and im just a stupid, dumb, ignorant american, and even i could see that (editting to note the sarcasm)
