Thanks, Anita :)

yeah.. you are so right.. the way the players behaved shows how the supporters are  I just dislike to see how low people can get... coming to offend people in so many ways when all we are discusing here is SOCCER. It isn't a thread about how poor/rich a country is , if they have black/white/yellow people and when it gets mixed it makes me feel sick because this isn't the point of the competition. World Cup is about having fun. I am the first to step in and say we didn't play good and congrat the winner because this is how it has to be...

Sorry Brazilians -- after England lost they were the only ones I wanted to win who were left.

And although Rooney being sent off was predictable, I have to say Lampard has been useless this entire tournament and especially today -- his "whatever" attitude afterwards infuriated me more than anything.

I missed that.

But I always thought Hargreaves was light weight, the man of the match today.

I have looked at it many times, but from the US coverage I can not tell the Rooney did it deliberately. My guess is that there was better coverage in the UK.

Sorry to all Brazilians around here, just saw on tv how emotional this lose was for you guys (but also saw how happy frenchs were in Paris, partying on the Champs Elysses  )

I guess France is no good luck for you.

How about Italy-France?

I agree for that one in final, considering we beat Italy during 1998 world cup (PK) and in final for the Euro cup in 2000 (one of the best memories, it was 1-0 for italy, and in the last second of the game we drawed it to 1-1, while all players thought they won already :lol: ).

Go Germany!!! :dance::dance::dance:

What a game. I think I had a heart attack, well, a little one that was :P . We did pretty good. I also watched Brazil - France last night and it was a rather not so exciting game although Brazil got better in the last 20 minutes. Unfortunately, it wasn't good enough. I would have liked to see Germany - Brazil in the finals again.

We tivo'd it and watched it many times in slow motion -- can't tell decisively if it was intentional or not. He was in a scramble so his foot could have fell anywhere but it did look like he stepped back -- with the ref right there and everything. if intentional other half called it an "allan shearer tackle", lol -- ambiguous but dirty

Agree about hargreaves -- also thought lennon was fantastic -- had england gone through it would have been great to see him start instead of beckham.

Thing about rooney is that he was the only player who consistently looked like he wanted to win the world cup -- hustling and always going after the ball. It would be unfair to pin this all on him.

pmsl @ alan shearer thing......being red n white til I die, I enjoyed reading your hubby's comment...

Sadly, I have to say that I think England didn't really set anything on fire this WC. Did not play to their full potential at all. I think that they could have really gone far had they really gotten focused. But they way they played, it would have been a slaughter going into a semi or the final.....

I also think the red card was pulled out cos Rooney pushed Ronaldo.....spelling messed up, but whatever :)

Yeah -- i think so too. that boy's got to learn that other teams are going to try and wind him up because it's his achilles heel. Hopefully next world cup will see a more mature rooney, no beckham, and lennon hitting his prime. and a better, more inventive coach -- i won't hold my breath about getting to the final

Yep, hope so...now I haven't followed the news about Beckham, but ya never know...he could stay in it...what is he, like 30 now? Not completely impossible, unless he chooses to retire..

I do think Ron. was wrong to jump in there and try to get Rooney thrown off...not saying it was totally Rooney's fault, but at the end of the day, he's been called to task for stepping on someone's nuts, and an aggressive shove (no matter how well deserved) didn't help matters one bit. Rooney owed it to us fans to keep his cool...especially with that Ref who threw Beckham out last time. He should have walked an even straighter line imo.

Oh well, we'll see how they play in the Euro...hopefully that temper of Rooney's will be calmer by then...
