Changing Jobs Whilst Waiting for AOS.

Hi everyone!

I have a question which I hope someone can help me with...

My husband just recently gave two weeks notice at his current job, and will be going back to his previous one full-time. We just sent in the AOS stuff last Friday (no word as to whether or not they have received it yet - I don't think they've even cashed in the cheque). The Affidavit of Support and the Proof of Employment letter has his current employment info. Do we have to let the USCIS know about this change? Do we have to resubmit the Affidavit of Support and other info, or would it be okay to just wait for the interview and hand them current information? His previous job pays about the same, so he earns well over the poverty guideline.

Help?

You don't have to tell them you have a new job. It may or may not be a problem. When the Interview time comes, They may or may not ask for the affidavit of support.. if you research some of the post you can see the peoples stories.. I would bring the information about his new job just to be on the safe side. If they ask for the Affidavit of support, than give them the new one with the new information, but you should be ok with the current one, and you did nothing wrong because that was his job at the time when he submitted that information. Good Luck

I'd just wait and take the info to the interview. Who knows he may end up getting the GC without an interview.

Don't think employment updates are required like change of address!!

I agree with the others, it is not necessary to update the info now. The main thing they want to know is if he is able to support you and the salaries are about the same between both jobs so it is really not important to inform them. I remember that a few weeks before my hubby's Consulate interview I changed jobs too, but didn't bother updating the Affidavit of Support because it wasn't an issue.

When you get your interview notice, there will be a "list of stuff to bring" - one of the items of the list is (2) months of current pay stubs. They will re-check your household income at that time - they kept my pay stub copies as part of our file.

i don't get it.

My husband also changed jobs in the process. Since they do ask you to bring two months of paystubs to the interview, the name on the employment letter should match the name on the paystubs. We had his new company write up a letter of employment (actually, they just copied the old employment letter onto their own letterhead!). We took it to the interview, and the officer took it for the file. As long as the new salary isn't below the Affidavit of Support guideline, then you'll be fine. :)
