When going for the medical exam, are they going to run a drug test from blood or from urine?

I know they run a blood test, But I didn't know if they only check for disease etc and save the drug test for urine.

I don't know, but maybe (assuming your fiance does drugs, as why else would you ask this question) you should tell your fiance to hold off for awhile before her interview...?

I think it depends on the country? There was no urine test at all for me here in Ireland, and I *think* the blood was just for STDs etc, not drugs. I do know of a couple of cases where the beneficiary was sent for a blood drug test at the interview (had to be done the same day), so maybe it depends on what the doctor writes...

In terms of holding off for "a while" before the medical... if a person is a very rare smoker, and only took a few puffs one time after many months of not smoking.... would 2 months be sufficient time to be "clean" for the test, whether blood or urine? (mj, for example)

Disclaimer: not a doctor! For a urine test, yes 2 months will definitely be enough. For blood, maybe... depends on the sensitivity of the test and how strong the stuff he took was. Remember that even admitting to one instance of prior drug use can cause huge issue and possible denial....

Thanks for the info/opinion. If anyone else can give some input I would appreciate it as well.

Once again, we are not doctors. 2 months is "supposedly" enough time for (assuming you are talking about smoking marijuana) it to leave your system. I have heard that numerous places as well, but I can't say I positively know for sure.

I am going to assume your interview won't take place for another 3 to possibly four months, so as long as your fiance can hold off then you SHOULD (can't guarantee anything) be fine. If your fiance can't hold off for the months leading up to the interview then that's unfortunate and if she is caught she can/probably will be denied.

You should be asking a doctor about your drug questions as he would know better than the majority of us.

Yea, there won't be any smoking before the interview date. I believe we will be fine. Thanks for the thoughts.
