I'm just wondering, on average, how many questions your fiances/husbands were asked at their visa interview? Onur was asked A LOT of questions, which he answered all correctly, before he was put on AP.

He was asked:

- How did you meet you fiance?

- When did you meet your fiance?

- How many times did she visit Turkey?

- When is the last time she visited you?

- How many siblings does she have?

- What is her job?

- Where does she live?

- How did you learn English?

- Why did you cut your hair and shave your face?

- Does your family like your fiance?

- Does her family like you?

- Why did your fiance move back to America?

- Does she love you?

- Why does she love you?

- Why do you love her?

- Why do you want to go to America?

And a few other questions that he can't remember right now (I should have written them down right after the interview, but I was too upset!)

His interview lasted 15-20 minutes.

Is this normal???

Based on all our years of experience with the COs and the IOs, I would say that they will ask as many questions as they feel are necessary to see if the petitioner and recipient have a valid relationship. Your fiance didn't seem to have any odd questions - except the one about shaved face and short hair. A 15 to 20 minute interview seems about average. Considering the amount of fraud they see and how many people are trying to get into this country, I would say you should be happy that he was able to answer all the questions without reservations or hesitation.

AP seems to be typical for all MENA based petitions...hopefully, he will be done with all of this in a couple of weeks and you all will be reunited soon.

Good luck and God bless!

Yes, he usually has facial hair, but he shaved before the interview because he wanted to look more "official"

I guess I just found it odd that they would ask so many questions to decipher whether or not we had a bona fide relationship, when I lived with him and his family it Turkey for 5 months and have bank statements, passport stamps and airline stubs to prove it. He spoke with others who were asked 3-5 questions and approved. I guess that is just the luck of the draw!

Oh - and the CO asked him, "Why are you so nervous?" He was so nervous and the CO kept telling him to relax. Poor guy!

For our interview we were asked very basic questions such as where did we meet, how many times have I visited Egypt, etc....but the CO did ask me what was Wael's favorite foods!! So it just depends on how they see your relationship. Your questions were pretty normal.

Best of luck,

Jeanne
