good day to all!

been studying the threads since i joined a few days back and im kinda wondering

WHEN IS THE RIGHT TIME PAY THE DV?

we just had our case finished at the NVC yesterday and i must admit, it almost made me cry..lol. i want everything to be smooth all the way until the interview day and hopefully prevent delays thats why im asking about WHEN should i pay the DV.

one more quick question for those are of same category as i am (IV for wife - CR1/IR1)..

when your case was finished at NVC, how long did it take for it to arrive at the USEM in manila? did it take months?

the whole ordeal is tormenting but i must say quite fulfilling when little by litlle, im moving my way towards seeing my hubby again soon...

hope you guys could help me out..ill be waiting...thanks guys!

Hi.

My case is CR-1 too. I paid DV the same day of my interview. I received the VISA packet after 27 days!

-->I don't know if it make the verification faster if you pay early on. The thing is when they verify the documents? Before the interview or right after the interview? I don't know when the USEM consul gives the "go signal" to do the DV process or if ever they were the ones who have the control to do that. Or-DELBROS do the verification once it is paid even before the interview is done. Please consider those arguments. Please, anyone, correct me if I'm wrong.<----

November 2007 was when our case was approved. Around January we received a letter from NVC asking us to send more evidence. We got interview and medical packet last week of March 2008.

May the Lord bless your journey!

they say a month before the interview is the best time..

but then there's really NO confirmation about that..

yes there is no proven way to make sure it is all done before interview. in our case we paid almost 5 weeks before and docs. were sent for ver. week before hand or 2 but were told we had to wait for ver. and i blew up on the guy behind window 37 and he looked through our packet and found doc. had already returned and had to get counselor to sign off on it. so i would say more then half of the doc. are already returned and they are just playing games with everyone.

not all need doc.ver. so everyone should just wait to pay the fee. YES it will cause delays but at least they are not getting extra money for the one that dont need doc. ver. and pay ahead of time for nothing. just remember you have endured the pain of being away from your S.O. this long 8 weeks max is just a drop in the bucket.

seems almost everyone is getting held up anyways

Well unfortunately there is no guarantee even you pay the DV 2 months ahead...

I am just one of those fortunate when in terms of DV... I payed a month early and just txted delbros once to informed them my payment then stopped after I am sure that they got my payment. A week after I called up the NSO and after getting REAL info from them.. I am confident that I will be getting the pink slip only.

Just pay after getting your manila case number.

Include prayers in everything you do.

Much better u pay DV atleast a month before ur interview.Do u have case number already? If u have it now..then u can pay ur DV fee now.CR1 is different from K1 and K3 coz NVC is the one who give interview date for CR1..so If u have case number now...u can pay it now before NVC assign ur interview date.

Good luck!!!!

thanks to everyone who responded, youve been great help, ive considered each your inputs. i have decided that i will wait until NVC mails my papers to the USEM, then i pay the DV -- will that be alright?

and YES, i do have my MNL case number now..i was thinking, if i pay using this, will this not bring confusion to Delbros and USEM since they dont have my papers yet? when do you guys think the USEM will get my packet? hmmm...i really need your inputs guys...and thank you once again..

and TRUE, prayers are indeed very important in this journey..

Pay DV as soon as you have your MNL#. Then follow-up with embassy to make sure they send DV request to Delros. Then Delbros, to make sure they they got request, and also get a delivery date to NSO. Then NSO to make sure Delbros did in fact deliver docs. If they did follow up with NSO once a week until they give you a date that they sent back to the embassy. It will be a Friday. I think they have a scheduled pick-up time with Delbros, so you won't have to kick Delbros to makes sure it gets back to the embassy. Finally I called Grace at the embassy to confirm that the DV got back to embassy ,and that there were no problems.

This is what I did, and I am confidant that we should receive a pink slip only. It seems like a lot of work, but I read too many bad stories about Delbros not doing their job, so I wanted to makes sure everything was done well ahead of time. We payed DV 7 weeks before our interview date. I pray that everything is fine because I am flying there for the interview and I want her to fly home with me.

Most people here will say pay as soon as you can. While this might be true for K1s because their papers gets sent to Manila right away. for CR1 cases its a bit different. Your case might stay at NVC for a while even after case completion.

My advice is to wait until the US embassy receives your case from NVC. Then pay Delbros. There's really no sense in paying it early when "they" have no documents to verify yet. Or worse, they might get confuse if you pay too early.

From USEM webite!

Document Verification Fee

Applicants whose visa eligibility is dependent upon their marital status (i.e. K-1, K-3, CR-1, IR-1, F-1 and F2-B categories) will normally need to have their documents verified through the National Statistics Office (NSO) before the U.S. Embassy in Manila can issue the visa. Those with a delayed birth or death certificate or only local civil registrar copies of such documents may need to have their documents verified.

In order to avoid unnecessary delay in the visa issuance process, the U.S. Embassy in Manila strongly encourages applicants in the categories mentioned above to pay the document verification fee prior to their immigrant visa interview. Payment can be made through any Metrobank location. The cost of the document verification is PhP 650 per applicant. For specific instructions on how to pay the document verification fee, please click here. If you are unable to pay for the document verification before your immigrant visa interview, you may be asked to pay the fee on the day of your interview. Please note that if you pay on the day of your interview, there will be a delay of one to two weeks in the processing of your application.

thanks tin, that was what i was thinking too, if i pay early, they may get confuse since my papaers are not with the USEM yet and they have nothing to verify. much worse, i might be ask to pay again when the papers arrive...so yes, i guess ill wait for the USEM to recieve my papers..

Hi! i paid for my DV last fri Aug.22, i txted & i got confirmation from them ryt away... :) Our case has been approved by NVC last July 3, 2008, but until now no interview date yet. that's why i decided to pay for my DV early, coz i don't like to have another reason for delays...

I guess, (on my opinion), it would be safe for us to pay DV early bcoz, the USEM has access on our case with the NVC, & as soon as we have paid, they can just check to their system if our case is current already or if we are really applicants, then they can just request for our DV from the NSO by just giving our names, date of births,etc...then the NSO will verify our papers from them, & after verification, they will send it to the USEM...so no more white slip!
