Texas Drivers License for K3 visaholders

There was a misconception floating around on the boards a few months ago about drivers license requirements (Texas). A K3 visaholder can apply for and get a license on the basis of "valid visa + I94 with minimum 1 year remaining before expiration".

The first office we went to denied the license. After I called Austin, we went back and they allowed testing and gave us the license.

K1 visaholders, because they do not have a year on their I94, have to wait for their EAD card.

i don't get it.

Do you know if we can drive on a K3 in Texas if you have a foreign driver's license? or how about a International driver's license? I read somewhere you can drive for 1 year on an international driver's license before getting a US license. Do you still need to take the written or road test?
