What happens if NOA doesn't arrive before Conditional residence expires?

Hi, I was just wondering, what would happen if someone's NOA doesn't arrive before their Conditional Residence expires, even if they applied for the I-751 well before the date of expiry?

Thanks.

Did the USCIS cash your check or money order?

Do you have proof of delivery, such as a tracking number of the package and the name of the person who signed for it?

If you do, then make an infopass appointment to get a stamp in your passport.

There are quite a number of us who originally filed at TSC between January and May of this year who never received the NOA at all due to some sort of glitch at TSC. When they fixed the glitch they still didn't re-issue the missing NOAs. Basically, what you do is make an Infopass appointment at your local USCIS office (you can do this at their website www.uscis.gov - on the right hand side 'Schedule an appointment"), bring your expired or soon to expire green card and your unexpired passport - or an expired passport plus 2 passport sized photographs - and they will either put the I-551 stamp good for a year in your unexpired passport, or make a new I-94 good for a year and staple that into your expired passport. These act as proof of your permanent residency until your application is adjudicated and you receive your 10 year green card. Hope that helps!

Hi Kathryn41,

Thanks for your help, as I was wondering the same thing too if that ever happened to me. Although in my case I would more likely than not have an expired passport. It's a good idea and a relief to know that there is an alternative rather than getting a new passport in case that ever happened. Have you, or anyone else here on VJ ever tried this I-94 and passport photos in an expired passport idea? If so, did it work and were you able to get your residency temporarly extended until the 10yr card was recieved?
