Actually I think we (me and hubby, not me and some other man :P) might have to do this process all over again......yes the paranoid me, that's all.

We did lose 3 years to this long distance relationship because we were absolutely ignorant with this process and I didn't have VJ to read :P

But I know if we have to do it again then I am much more prepared and it would be a short long distance relationship to suffer.

What about for those that their spouse/fiance is already here. Given going through the immigration mess, already having part of that behind you. Given all the troubles with a spouse adjusting to a new country, new language, new everything, and leaving everything behind, Would you do it again?

Just wondering, cause the "after they get here" part is stressful as heck too. Adjusting is no walk in the park... I think more difficult than the maintaining a long distance relationship.

is the question if i'd do it again if it was with Charles? or if something happened and I had to do this again with someone else?

The answer for the first is yes, the second he!! no. no way i'd have a long distance relationship again and no way i'd want to leave everything behind again.

I'd say yes in both instances.

Lai has been here almost 4 years; given that perspective, I definitely say yes :)

if me and my hubby broke up .. I don't think I would do any kind of relationship again, never mind a long distance one

I hated being single, 35 years of it was enough. So, if the worst happened, once I was able to crawl out of the black hole I would have fallen into and rejoin the world, I'd definitely seek a new relationship, wherever I had to go to find one.

I guess some of us are just wired differently than others. I have two friends who got married a year or so before I met Lai. One said that if he hadn't found his wife, he'd stay single. The other one is like me; said he just wasn't meant for the single life.

Same here. :)

The whole point is that I HATE being away from *him* personally... if I was just worried about being single, I could find anyone in the area...

I dunno...I guess it would depend on the frame of mind I'm in. Should anything happen to my husband (death or divorce) I believe it would take me much longer to recover this time around than it did the last time. Besides, I didn't purposefully go looking for a foreign SO as a spouse.
