psoft that link is not good for me, my wife's phone starts with 345 (telenor)

she can send me text messages, but i cant send her nothing. I have tmobile. and that site you gave does not have telenor

Cell phone is too cheap in Pakistan. Ask your wife to change her Cell phone service provider to Mobilink then you can send msgs to her via net. I got T-Mobile too it cost me 15 cents for one international message but I got unlimited international calling that is the reason I don’t do much SMS.

By the way anyone who wants to send money from states to Pakistan I got very good site. I have been using it for years to send my money to my Mom who doesn’t want to live here in US and of course to my wife.

Hey gang on everyone request here is poem for you guys and your SO.

What do I do when I'm alone?

Well, sometimes I sing a little song.

La, La, La, La, La, La.

That is the song I sing.

What do I do when I'm alone?

Well, sometimes I do a little dance.

I jump and I hop, hop, hop.

That is my little dance.

And sometimes when I'm all alone,

I pretend that I can fly.

And I touch all the clouds and

I wave to the birdies as they pass by.

But, sometimes when I am all alone,

Well sometimes I feel a little sad.

'Cause there's no one to share my song,

No one to fly with me.

So, sometimes when I am all alone,

I think of how happy I would be

If I wasn't alone and you were here with me.

[You know there are lots of things you can do when you're alone.

Yeah, you can write yourself a little poem. Or throw a ball up against a wall.

Yeah, yeah, lots of things but you know what...

I think that lots of times it is nicer to be with somebody else than all alone by yourself.]

So, sometimes when I am all alone,

I think of how happy I would be

If I wasn't alone and you were here with me.

[And you are here with me, so I am not alone and I am happy.)

What keeps me going is the thought that at least we have each other - even if it takes forever and we get bummed out waiting and missing important things. I guess I'd rather have something less that totally satisfying than nothing at all with him. I love my S.O. soooo much, it's wonderful even though it is hard.

Hope everyone has a decent week... thanks again to all of you for your links and advice. I have a smile today thanks to this gang! Just sent SMS to him. He SHOULD be sleeping, but my guess is he's awake...

Alright PSoft, maybe you can help me with this one too.

I'd love to learn to read/write Urdu, but am having h*ll of a time. What I feel like I need is a video or childrens book or something to show me how to draw the letters. I can see them in the Urdu language books I have, but I don't know how to write them. Back when I was in kindergarten, the teachers showed you how to write the letters, then you copied them down over and over till you figured it out. I tried to find examples on my last trip to Paki, but all my friends kids there were learning only English that way. They didn't understand me wanting to learn Urdu that way... and when I asked them to show me the drew them too fast to grasp...

How did you learn as a kid? Any suggestions where I can find a resource to teach me to write the letters? I had a great Nepali class at Cornell, so I learned Devanagari script. Unfortunately, I haven't found anyone local that knows how to write (let alone speak Urdu). I found several books online, but I don't want to order one and find out it is lousy.

Any online aids or other suggestions?

How 'bout whipping out an animation for me of the alphabet and all the connector letters, etc...?? You and Hafiz have IT backgrounds right? A little Java script??? lol! ;)

Psoft and Hafiz,

Here's a link to an animation for Devangari to get you started in your coding...

Hafiz - what is with bad news, the negative thoughts??? Come on, stay positive!

The type of news broadcast on television here in the US (always sensational and negative) only serves to create fear, anxiety and hatred. I know things are tough in Karachi, but you can find the same stories anywhere in the world. Human beings have something warped in their heads... and feeding that negativity only creates more.

Come on, positive thoughts and stories! Please
