Watch Movies; Use click2dial.com (receive unlimited call from wife on your cell or home number that's what I do). So where are you in Chicago? I used to live in Detroit six/seven years ago that was the reason visited Chicago quite many times (for Sabri’s Nihari lol) besides my uncle and family also lives in suburbs of Chicago.

Come on man don’t pissed off. Believe me it will be over soon inshallah. Lets talk about soccer game I am very excited about that it. Brazil, Germany and England are most favorite teams for 2006 game.

Hey gang,

I need some advice from you all. My SO is having some really tough days. It's hot as can be in ISB, he's miserable without me there, and it just seems so dayum long before we'll be together. It's so hard for me to call and hear him bumming so hard. I just wish I could be there to give him a hug and say, we'll get there. Don't know what to say to keep his spirits up - and the phone can make it seem so far away.

Any suggestions? What has worked for you all? I try not to get frustrated too, as I know that won't help, but it's really hard to hear him so down. Some times it is fine and we both are up and ready for the challenge and the long battle - other times it just seems so desperate. Hardest thing for me is being here and not really able to do a dayum thing over the phone or e-mail.

Any insights from you - esp. you guys??! How have you survived?

Is he working currently? I mean doing Business or Job or studying? What is his profession? If he is not working then please ask him to find a job (a very good web site for Pakistani jobs www.workjunction.com)

Just keep in touch with him on daily basis. I don’t know how many folks here in our thread pray five times but SALAT‘ Namaz’ is the very wonderful tool, which gives you a spiritual satisfaction.

In my opinion if someone busy then he/she doesn’t find a time to get frustrate.

Importance of Salat.

the most bitter enemy of man; he always tries to disturb the Believer’s prayers. He (the worshipper) finds his mind suddenly engulfed with memories, problems, worries, work and his family… and he will often find himself wondering whether he has prayed three rak`ah or four. This is how Satan steals the prayer. Man was created only to worship Allaah. He says: { I created not the jinns and mankind except to worship me } (Soorah 51:56). Man is to live in this world as a worshipper of Allaah and prayer is the best for of worship. On the Day of Judgement, man will have to answer for his deeds. Allaah says: { Then shall you be questioned about the joy [you indulged in] } (Soorah 102:8)

Man is a wonderful creature; he sees through the layers of fat (eyes), hears through a bone (ears) and speaks through a lump of flesh (tongue).

Shon, are you sending text messages to a cell phone? We tried initially between our phones and found I couldn't get them from him. Did you do something special to set that up? I have Verizon and I asked them and they said it wasn't possible from their network to his. Maybe there is a way I can send them via e-mail to his phone at least. Unfortunately, he doesn't have easy access to a computer. He has to go to a Net Cafe and he hates going - too many young guys smoking, looking at bad stuff and loud, obnoxious music...

I'll take your suggestion to send photos though. I always worry that if I send photos of me having fun here without him it would bum him out, but maybe simple photos at home etc... probably would be o.k.

It's hard for me to call only because I feel so helpless to help him lift his spirits sometimes. sometimes it is easy and I can get him to laugh eventually, other times it just plain sucks. I have it a bit easier - I love where I live and have a great community of friends. He finds it hard to be in ISB right now and has a hard time going to all the places we went together... friends homes, restaurants, etc... cause he just thinks of me the whole time. When I was there, he took me to all his favorite places of course. Now they aren't so favorite - they just remind him we're not together.

Just talked to him this morning and he sounds better... let's hope it lasts. Thanks for your advice.

He works as a mountain guide, so his work is on, then off. He's trying to stay busy in between trips, working odd jobs where he can, but he often has days that are frustrating and not much to do. I'm urging him to keep busy those days, but he definitely has too much idle time some days. You are VERY right, that when he is busy working he's much better off. I'll ask him about his prayers. I know he is better about them some days too.

Have you found a good online Urdu-English translation site? I'd like for him to be able to write me in Urdu more, but I can't read Urdu script yet. His english is good, but as I'm sure many of you understand, it's easier to express yourself fully in your native language.

Thanks for your suggestions!!!!

I use Cingular wireless. my phone is also international but that should not have any bearing. you could upgrade your phone. i you did not.

I sent Javed my diary he has all my thoughts, and deep steamy desires in that thing..lol better not show his mama that thing.

course I have the worst handwriting so he proble needs a Chicken, a compass and a mirror to red my

chicken scratch writing. :lol::lol:

here is another idea me and Javed made a scrap book togeather. it was alot of fun. even his aunti and sisters. you could make one for him and sent it to him with wedding pics or things in there. fathers day is comming up this also makes a great gift.

salams all,

Happy Monday! - today is day 150 of AR/AP :clock:

Welcome Saeedah - good luck with your process insha'Allah...

dlg - I know what you and your SO are going through.... my fiance gets bummed... we're going on 14 months now... being in Afghanistan, in 100plus temps w/o electricity, not nearly enough to do, and having his life on hold doesn't make for great living conditions... surprisingly he's much more patient and optimisitic about everything and always trying to make me feel better, but believe me there are times where he's sooo bummed, and I feel horrible b/c I definitely have it much easier here which adds guilt to all the other million emotions I go through on a daily basis... anyways... I don't know how possible it is for you to go visit, but that would be the best thing (although separating gets harder and harder each time in my experience), otherwise, keep up the communications, as difficult and impersonal as it seems at times... I don't know what you or your SO's religious backgrounds are (if any) but I would also agree that salat/namaz and having faith that everything is up to Allah's will is definitely a key to us keeping our sanity (it will happen when it's meant to happen but in the interim may Allah grant us all patience - ameen.) It works for us so if you're spiritual/religious at all, definitely tap into that.

anyways... wishing all luck this week and insha'Allah - hoping we all get some good news and reunions with loved ones...
