Rana Saeed, 35, a truck-driver, hailing from Faisalabad (Punjab), was murdered on a petty issue near Gate No 6 Maripur Truck Stand.

According to police, Saeed had parked his truck in front of a shop that annoyed the shopkeeper and the two exchanged hot words.

As the conflict worsened, Jauhar Zaman and Sohrab Khan, the shopkeeper and his servant, attacked Rana Saeed with sticks and iron-rod, killing him on the spot.

yeah right i cant take no time off. never

There was a time when the profession of nursing was considered to be prestigious and one of the most suited for women. The nurse was respected for her humane nature and the higher objectives she worked for. Today, however, they are easily discouraged because of a negative stereotype created over the years in Pakistan.

Nazia had initially wanted to be an engineer but fate had other plans in store for her. She said when she was in grade school and one of her relatives was admitted in a hospital, she had been his attendant for a day and observed the practice of the nurses in the hospital. I was quite impressed with their work and at the back of my mind wished to see myself as a nurse some day. But later I forgot about it and decided to take up engineering as my major.

Then coincidentally she came across an advertisement of a nursing school and felt she should apply and she did so without informing her parents. It was after receiving a letter of acceptance that her parents found out. My father has orthodox views so he was reluctant to let me study further and go to a hostel, but he later got convinced when I refused to eat anything until he permitted me, she says with a smile.

Even though men are entering the profession she feels that women are best suited for the job of nursing they are naturally created by God to be healthcare supervisor. I feel the hospital is very much like a home and we women are better-off maintaining it, she proudly adds.

On being questioned if there is any pressure from her family to marry, she disclosed that she has been engaged to her paternal cousin since childhood. As soon as my fiance is settled in his job, my parents might marry me off and I would not want to go against them because they, especially my father, has been very understanding.

They have given me more than I expected, she said adding Staying in a hostel away from them for about four years was difficult, but since I got here I have started missing my family a lot, she said.

In conclusion it can be said that it is unfair to defame the occupation because it is not the nurses who are to be blamed but the bad behavior of some patients that makes the nurses uncomfortable and also contributes to their low morale. One needs to realize that this in turn affects the patient outcomes also for they are the ones who ensure that the patient recovers in a comfortable and healthy environment.

I think short temper is a common disease these days everywhere including right here in our thread. (If someone suffering from this disease then please takes 40 hours anger management therapy class lol)

I know it is very hot summer in Pakistan but killing someone on minor issues. It is really it is totally unacceptable.

Why do you want to take a break? It is reality brother and we have to face current situation with full of passion rather avoiding reality.

Hey everyone!

Hope everything is fine with you all.

I applied to sponsor my husband last year from the embassy at Islamabad.

Our I-130 was approved within the six month period they had specified.

And to complete the rest of the paperwork which required domicile-I moved back to the US in March this year.

He sent packet 3.5 to the embassy about 10 days ago. It says that they usually review the papers for two-three weeks and set up in interview within the next few days. Is that true? Does anyone have any idea how much longer I will need to wait before he gets here?

What about administrative review? Does everyone have to go through that.

I would love to hear about anyones experience with this.

The wait is a real killer! sad.gif

Thanks in advance,

Regards

Saeedeh
