Each of us should appreciate what we have in our mothers. They are our teachers and our role models. Every day with them is an opportunity to grow as a person. Every day away from them is a missed opportunity.

So it is really injustice if we associate only one day to our mother. For me it is really non-sense.

Man is a wonderful creature; he sees through the layers of fat (eyes), hears through a bone (ears) and speaks through a lump of flesh (tongue).

Something this dangerous should never be dismissed as nonsense. Mothers day (and all the other days) are marketing events meant to steal your money. They manipulate peoples emotions and take their hard earned money from them. It is not nonsense, it is incredibly insidious.

I do agree with you two... as a Muslim, I do my best to honor my mother and show my appreciation to her everyday ... we have no expectation in my house to go buy a "Mother's Day Gift" or anything like that... I don't support the efforts of the retail industry to find any excuse to take away our hard earned money and impose a needless sense of obligation to "celebrate" these days by buying things, BUT I also don't have a problem wishing my mom or other people a happy mother's day or going out of my way on this day, (or my mom's birthday, or Eid, or any random Tuesday, to show my love and appreciation (not through buying a gift but other ways). Unfortunately for some mothers it may be the only day out of the year they get any recognition. But point well taken Psoft and Agent Smith - it is an important one.

AJ .. you Ding Dong.. wait til you have a child and your baby boy forget you, by leaving you

out in the sun too long in your wheelchair. in a doo doo diaper! Happy fathers day to YOU!

my point is maybe these holidays were created so you have a notion if your child will abandon you

in your golden years!

I do send my mother gifts on holidays I fully support retail!! if I know it will make my mom

so happy. I will send her someting nice. I wont make her sad by ignoring the fact this is HER day.

along with her birthday, christmas, and any other day I want to send her somethig nice.

she is old one day - there will be a day I wont be able to send her someting nice..

lol, speaking of retail industry i was watching seinfeld yesterday and lol they had the show about the commie guy, elaine was dating. And kramer was working as santa at vandalay industries, and then the commie guy told him how they are making profits and not giving you anything. And then kramer gets brain washed and tells the kids how kids in china or some other country have to labor for your toys.

so the kid is like

you are a Commie a traitor to our country.
