Welcome Back Omid,

I am glad to hear you made it back safe and sound. I know you enjoyed your trip but are missing your SO now. I do not know anything but we are in AP yet. I have made calls to the embassy, congressman and senator. The senator also gets canned response and we had conflicting stories as to where the case was physically at now. I asked the congressman to help one month ago and they have not written me back or returned my phone calls. Ishteaq contacted the embassy and they said the case was in the states. DOS says the case is in Islamabad and no security checks have been ordered stateside? I cannot figure it out  and have given up and just trying to stay hopeful for good news soon.

I went to another board and read up some more on AP and those on it was anywhere from shortest 4 months but most are 6 - 9 months in length. And all ladies were getting conflicting reports as to the status and whereabouts of their cases. Not much is written on the AP aspect of the visa journey since most cases get the AR which is usually shorter in processing.

P.S. *If they took a full set of prints it means he had a name hit and they are doing a Chamelon check. They have to submit all 10 prints and have the prints elimated in all the security basis.*

Hope all of us get some good news soon.

Mary

Omid I think the medical is good for one year. Shonnie will confirm this for me I am sure since we had discussed this earlier. It is the police reports depending on what municipality it comes from the expiration times vary.

quick question - how long are medical exams good for?

Omid,

Medical exams are good for one year. Right when I was beginning to worry about having to redo the medical cause it was close to expiring ( hubby was on AR forever) I called DOS to check on status and was told that all checks were completed and to call embassy . Called embassy and was told that they had been trying to reach us for days (which I believe was a lie cause my husband had not gotten ANY calls from them, nor had I ) and wanted to know if my husband could fly to US within the month to avoid redoing the medical?? Normally you have 90 days before you have to travel and have enough time to tie up loose ends but I said of course he can! They did make him redo all the police reports though before he could leave , which was a big pain in the butt cause they had done all this redistricting --Nankana Sahib became its own district --before it was district Sheikhupura --and he only had a few weeks to travel all over the country to get all this done. However, it was worth it to get that visa in hand finally. If anyone has a medical close to expiring I would call embassy and get senator/ congressmen's office to call and put pressure on them to bring it all to a close since they have had so much time to complete all checks etc. I know that is easier said than done though. Good luck !

Jess

Hi Psoft,

My husband (K-3) paid around 3500 rupees in Karachi. He did not have any immunizations performed. We did those here in the US.

FYI - the Doctor would not see him the first time because his passport expired in 8 months. He told him it had to be good for at least a year.

Welcome Welcome!

Good luck on both of your Journey's!

Laney

Hi everyone!

.....Been visiting family/friends , learning to cook Paki food ( and yes, I have finally mastered the chappati/rhoti !!!! ) and trying to settle in to our life together. We filed for AOS a couple of weeks ago and are still waiting for the notice of receipt. The hardest part about being here, for Abdul , is not being able to work, drive or have any independence, so I have been trying to entertain him as much as possible.

Jess

Welcome back Jess! I'm very jealous, I have yet to master the chappati - its so much easier to just open a bag of flour tortillas :D . But in due time I guess I'll have to learn.

My husband is in the same boat...I'm trying so hard to keep him busy. I just wish he could get (pass) his drivers license for now. But we'll just have to keep on practicing.

Good luck on your AOS and EAD - keep us posted.
