Following is the e.mail I got from boss I think it is good idea to share with all of you.

I am usually not a big fan of forwarding emails, but I think the idea below is worth considering!

Subject: FW: GAS WAR

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

> GAS WAR - an idea that WILL work

>

> This was originally sent by a retired Coca Cola executive It came from

> one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. It's worth

> your consideration.

>

> Join the resistance!!!! I hear we are going to hit close to $4.00 a

> gallon by next summer and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to

> come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action.

>

> Philip Hollsworth offered this good idea. This makes MUCH MORE SENSE

> than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going

> around last April or May!

> The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't

> continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an

> inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever

> thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.

> Please read on and join with us!

>

> By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is

> super cheap. Me too! It is currently

> $2.79 for regular unleaded in my town. Now that the oil companies and

> the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a

> gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive

> action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace..not sellers.

> With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need

> to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come

> down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their

> gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

> How?

>

> Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas. But we

> CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a

> price war.

>

> Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY

> gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and

> MOBIL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to

> reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies

> will have to follow suit. But to have an impact, we need to reach

> literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple

> to do! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll

> explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

>

> I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us send it to at least

> ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten

> more (300 x 10 = 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches

> the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION

> consumers.

>

> If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends

> each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one

> level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

>

> Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people.

> That's all!

> (If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have

> to do is send this to 10 people....

> Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician.

> But I am. so trust me on this one.)

>

> How long would all that take? If each of us sends this

> e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300

> MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8

> days!!! I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential,

> did you! Acting together we can make a difference.

>

> If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest

> that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE

> $1.30 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK

>

>

> Have a GREAT DAY.

I dont think there is anything that can be done to stop this gas price hike. DONT EVEN TRY IT, the gas prices are a result of SIMPLE ECONOMICS

SUPPLY IS HIGH, DEMAND IS HIGH, thus prices will go up. THE idea that supply is low or will be low is completely stupid and absurd, the OIL will NEVER RUN OUT, NEVER. Its all a hoax. and demand will NEVER go down, so thus prices will NEVER go down. NEVER. THE ONLY ISSUE IS The capacity to REFINE that oil that is limited.

The idea is to raise prices, lets say from 2.00 to 3.50 per gallon , then when people start screaming bring it back down to 2.50, so people think whoa it went down 1 dollar, the next time around raise it again, to 3.75, bring it back down to 2.60. DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN. OIL COmpanies are making record profits, all based on the capitalist economy.

CAPITALISM= an economic and social system in which individuals can maximize profits because they own the means of production.

Another reason for gas prices is the future contracts which are bought and sold way ahead of the inventory reading postings. So they are basically selling and buying something that does not exist, It is similar to the way the entire stock marktet works. Products are bought and sold not based on current inventory or existence, of items, but based on what will happen in the future, which no one has any control over.

One option, although controversial is to get one barrel of oil for every illegal immigrant that is coming here from MEXICO or any other oil country.

Hi everyone!

I know it has been a long time , but I have not forgotten anyone , just been really busy since Abdul arrived here. It has been a big adjustment for both of us , but an enjoyable one. Been visiting family/friends , learning to cook Paki food ( and yes, I have finally mastered the chappati/rhoti !!!! ) and trying to settle in to our life together. We filed for AOS a couple of weeks ago and are still waiting for the notice of receipt. The hardest part about being here, for Abdul , is not being able to work, drive or have any independence, so I have been trying to entertain him as much as possible. He is going to start an english language program ( EELI) through the local college in June and I think that will help him make new friends and give him more confidence about his speaking abilities. I do not think he really needs to take the classes ( and when he called to ask about the program they told him it did not sound like he needed the classes lol) but it will give him something to do while waiting for EAD and at the least will boost his confidence about his abilities.

I know that many of you are STILL on AR and my prayers go out to all of you. Just remember that although it seems like you will never get the visa, you will eventually. I think that it took about 309 days of AR for us , and I know what hell it is to wait and wait and see no end in sight. I am not sure , but I think that having my senator's office contact the embassy on a monthly basis might have helped. My congressman would never even reply to my letters, so I guess it just depends on your state and how helpful your senators or congressmen are. I also called DOS on weekly basis , but that was not all that helpful either , as I would get conflicting info most of the time. Just hang in there and don't lose hope. IT WILL COME TO AN END!! Good luck to everyone still waiting on the visas. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Wish us luck on a speedy AOS!

Jess nice to see your post and that you have started your AOS processing. I am glad that Abdul has arrived and seems to be settling in except for his being unable to work or drive. Hope your AOS goes smoothly and that he enjoys his ESL classes. I know you are glad to have him home.

salams all,

I just flew back in yesterday evening - by myself :crying: Just got caught up on the boards - I was really hoping for more good news. Congrats to Sheila.

Mary - Shon - what the heck is going on? I was hoping your guys would be here in the states by now!! Shon - why the AR again? Mary - any idea why no record at DOS yet?

here's my update... before i left I spoke with a CO who said the delay was b/c of his travels to Europe last year... and that she would try to expedite things so that he might be able to come home with me... i didn't hold my breath on that one and I'm glad I didn't... when I got there I called her again and she said they were sending him a letter to come to the embassy and bring his passport - I got all excited thinking that was it... she said we didn't have to wait for the letter and that we could just come on down... she also said that he should bring his old passport if he had found it (it was lost the year before) well the phone cut off and I couldn't reconnect... the next day he got a call from someone saying he needs to come down for full set of fingerprints... apparently it wasn't done at the interview (long story but I assumed it was done and never asked for clarification and my SO never specified that only his index prints were taken - stupid of me I know) ... we made the long (8 bumpy hours by car) to ISL and didn't realize it was the holiday on the 12th...stayed an extra day, went in on the 13th... waited around all day, took full set of prints, paid the fee, saw the sticky on the file with 3 security requests ( I think they were Donkey, MANTIS, and TPS or something like that - got a quick glance) ... and was told it could take another month - I told my SO to just think of it a minimum of three more months to avoid any more disappointments... the CO I had spoken to had left ill that morning so I wasn't able to speak with her in person... my dad suggested I stay there another day and try to s/w her but I didn't see any point, the requests have to go through DOS now... she hadn't mentioned that to me on the phone but then again we did get cut off before we were finished... why the full set of prints were requested 100 days after the interview and not done at the interview, beats the heck out me - was I really going to argue with someone at the embassy about that and risk pissing someone off and having my file sent to the bottom of the stack - of course not, I smiled, thanked them and walked away, desperately praying for Allah for patience...

It was definitely harder leaving this time than the time before - we had more bonding time, much needed and appreciated, but was definitely more attached and couldn't stop crying two days before I had to leave... called DOS this morning, not really expecting them to have had the request yet in light of Mary's situation and that it was only about 7 working days ago, but Alhamdulilah - surprisingly, they told me security checks were requested on the 13th and that they were pending and that it could take about 2-6 weeks insha'Allah - again not holding my breath on that one... just praying for patience... not just for me but for all of us...

okay... I gotta run and meet up w/ someone for lunch but I'll be back on later... wishing everyone the best insha'ALlah... and welcome to any and all newcomers...
