Yah that embassy is bonkers.. 3 times they told us "dont call" , "be patient it could be 2 weeks, 2 months or 2 years.". Then they turn around and say, "where you been" , "weeve been looking for you"

been there on the frustration tension ride

they parked him in pk for 9 monts , after being on his own in korea for about 5 years. Told him we would have the visa thing wrapped up in Seoul and he could visit pk for sisters wedding..yadas. I basically told him , dont be stressing out , you get stressed then im stressed, also told him you know i can flip out more than you can so knock it off and dont push it , be patient, we are doing all we can, ALLAH knows best, go prayer and spend good time with your family. I also told his brother a few times to help pull his head out of his a$$ and get him focused.

Right now his friends are telling them horror stories about moving far away and all not having the home court advantage. I said its ok , im staying with momma , you can have the house. So that is why I told him , take a few weeks absorb it all , finish what you need to do, and then get here, he is all calm cool collected now.. When the tension times are high, we see it as outside tension getting the best of us, that is when we say time to go out and clear head, have coffee with friends and so on.. Then after a day or so it is forgotten what it was that was tripping us up. Bottom line, life without each other would be a whole lot frustrating then whatever outside influences that is casing us stress. Inshallah all will be fine. ((hugs))

awwww - can I just say how much I appreciate all of you here .... I can't express how much better you all have made me feel... other people just don't understand unless they've been through this... I usually do NO venting with most family b/c they are just way too gossipy and I don't want to burden my immediate family b/c I know if I worry 1% about something, they worry 101% about me worrying and they all have enough on their plate right now... but one relative today, I just kinda hinted at what was bothering me b/c she kept asking why I was so bummed, she actually brought up the whole "maybe he just is after the visa to america" subject... yeah - that helped my mood - ha!

anyways... thanks mary, cindi, shon, dood, and especially Nizzy (I'll reply to your PM by email) You're all a blessing... and I pray Allah gives you and your families the best in this world and the next!!

Omid I have to say that if it was not for Cindy, Shon, Laney, Dood and a few others I do not think I could of weathered this as well. I agree too that I cannot talk to my brothers and any friends are all trying to plant ideas in my head. Just like you said you have very little moral support and have to chose whom to can confide in.

Laney great news on Nasseer having his visa in hand. I bet you did not sleep and keep us informed on his POE.

same news here,,kind of boring for u folks I am sure but I get greeted bye the nausea bird every morning ..seems to pass as the day goes on then just feeling fatigued now.

little nervous of all the traditions when the baby comes..man did u know jani told me a week after the baby is born it's hair gets all shaved off..I nearly fainted! I said are u kidding! I'll go nuts,,and does anyone know about masaging the babys with oil and pressing of the heads to shape the forheads all this makes me dizzy

also a goat has to be sacrificed.. anyways I am getting educated I guess.

while I respect Islam religion,,going to take me sometime to sink all this in about shaping the forhead and shaving the beautiful hair off the head .

I would not shave off my babys hair. I dont care about tradtion. is not my tradtion.

if i have a little girl I will braid her hair like mine sometimes and hopefully her hair is long like

mine. I dont know anything about shaping a baby head. I would leave it alone.

as for killing goats - not doing that either. this is the city of dallas. no point in it. the neighbours would freak.

when the baby is born we will go out to eat or order in like normal people. hopefully my mom

its 10:17 and I only have the weekend to clear out closets, stock freezers and buy some cute new undies -- why on earth am i here at this dayum laptop!

as for the goat.. Naseer mentioned something about a goat this morning {could barely hear him}. Is it customary to slaughter and distribute goat when you are blessed with good news as we have?

When he is here - I think I remember reading somewhere on line that we could probably get the local butcher to divvy us up some meat - so that we could give to friends and family... I guess we'll just have to play it by ear

Glad to hear that your coming along with your pregnancy. It was Cindy and Laney that got their visas. Nizzy's husband has been here for some time. Naseer and Manzar should be home this next week.

I am glad you were able to use the site with all the names listed and love the name you have chosen Of Mishel. Take care and just pray for a healthy baby and worry about the pounds later on. And hopefully Ishteaq will be home soon.

Love the name Mishel... Afghan version is Mashal and I know both males and females with the name... as far as I know the shaving of the head is purely traditional, I could be wrong but never heard any Islamic basis for it...

as to goat sacrifices... I know many Afghans who will sacrifice a goat (or even just money) as a form of gratitude for some momentous occasion or overcoming/surviving something major, in the same spirit of qurbani... many here will just send the money back home and tell them to do it in their name and then distribute to the needy...

Shon, let's not always make fun of the religion that you believe in if you don't understand it instead of asking or searching for best answer. You don't bring goat in your house here and slaughter in your bedroom. NO. Millions of Muslim live here and they don't bring goat home to slaughter.

Both methods that laney and Omid mentioned are reasonable and acceptable.
