salams all,

hope everyone is having a good day - I don't really believe in valentines day - too commercialized, but for all who do I wish you a pleasant Feb. 14th (L)

Shon - thanks for asking, I'm doing well alhamdulilah... definitely have the ups and downs but just remembering to trust Allah and know that eveything will happen when it's meant to happen -- and my cousin is getting married on March 25th, so if God forbid we haven't heard anything by then, I've decided to schedule a trip for the week after the wedding insha'Allah...

i'm at work - gotta run - will write more later... hope the studying is going well...

Mary - any response from the embassy yet?? There's been some rioting outside the diplomatic enclave in ISL so they're a bit distracted from their work I'm sure... :(

Omid,

I still have not heard back from them on the email. Ishteaq did get to talk to someone today and here is the jest of the conversation. He was on hold for almost 30 mins before he talked to some man.

Unknown man said your case is almost complete and just needs some more offical work left to do.

Ishteaq: Can you tell me how long it will take?

Unknown man said I cant say any thing to you about how long or what is left.

Ishteaq: Can you tell us anything?

Man no and goodbye.

At least he talked to a live person. Have you heard any more on your case? I was going to ask and then post when I heard from the embassy. If I ever get reply from them I will post it too.

Everyone hang in there. And Laura thanks for the thoughts your sending my way.

I kept telling him it'll take about 4-6 months - based on what I had heard - never did I think it would take this long.... blagh!!!!

Hey Shon -

Ya I read this thread as one of my "staples" to come to, but usually just to read. Many buddies on here that have gone through (and still are!) going through the same thing I have experienced. I am wishing you all well and hope for the best. I know the hurt, degradation and pain it causes too well.

Mary - will continue to think good thoughts for you & your son through this time. Its heartbreaking to see not only the pain of your separation, but also challenges here at home. Best wishes for you :luv:

yah, everyone should moan and groan a bit.. seems like they do more security checks via Isl emb. than they do to appointed directors etc.of many government agencies here in the states

of the many things Manzar and I have weathered in the last 4 years of our commitment to marriage, this not knowing ,the if and when. This was the most diffficult. One good thing , makes us appreciate what we had , have and will have, Inshallah.

I have a friend who has given up on the embassy, she does not write senator, call embassy or email them, She says she doesnt want to "upset "them, and she is leaving it up to ALLAH.(waiting 1-2 years). She, now is planning on moving to pk in 7 years. 7 years!!!!. BS.. I say keep on them, let them know you are alive and mean business.

True it is in Allahs hands, however, I believe, ALLAH helps those who helps themselves.

Ths sisters here are all on the right track, Inshallah not much longer

Not much to update tho but that well the embassy is holding the case for some reason, they hadn't sent out the clearance checks and are admit... processing. Dont know what the intentions are om there behalf but I recon they'll get to it some day. Im bugging them enough and my senators as well and the state dept but seems its going no where. I guess they decided not to even worry about my case at all. . lots of love to all and May god bless each one of you. :)

how long does your passport have to be good for after visa stamp - is it six months or a year? My fiance's passport expires in four months - we're wondering if he should just go and get an extention now so that when the embassy calls (insha'Allah sooner than later), he doesn't have to delay matters any further at that point...
