But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Shelia maybe we can chat sometime. I have two kids and I am on and offline or stuck on pages when something happens. LOL They always keep me on my toes. Thanks.

Omid, Gheez I would hate that long of a commute daily. I know you were thinking of striking out on your own and can see why you have those ideas now with the commute, visa processing and all the other daily things in your life. Good luck.

1 hr 15 mins sounds good after mornings like today - add an accident into the mix and it takes 1 hr 30 mins to 2 hrs... that's a good 3 hrs a day of my life utterly wasted every day but ahhh.. plenty of time to contemplate immigration issues

I think I want to go visit my guy... I thought long and hard before expressing my self-pity because i realize that there are many here who have been separated considerably longer... but these last three months have been miserable... I saw him for about two weeks in November... a week in March.... and then for two days the February before that... so all in all, about 3 weeks in two years...

being in Afghanistan doesn't help any... he doesn't have a computer so we don't get any of those benefits... we do the whole calling card ####### and any time we actually get a connection (and a good "clear" one at that) is amazing... and then my god, if I get a whole 20 minute uninterrupted conversation, then I consider myself quite blessed...

anyways... all that said, I don't know if my impatience will work to my detriment... my job approved four weeks off (not all paid of course) due to my "exceptional" circumstances so that won't be too much of an issue other than skipping a paycheck... going all the way there is not cheap... it's not necessarily in the budget right now but I think if I play my cards right I can get by w/o too much of a long term financial hit...

but then the thought of leaving without him again is too much to bear... I would be coming back at the end of March which will be about three months out from his interview but at the rate ISL is going, I don't think I should hold my breath on the thought of him coming back so soon...

and then I think what if God forbid something goes wrong (I have no reason to believe it would but you never know with this stuff - i've read plenty of horror stories on the ME/NA forum) and I have to go back.. then I really don't think work would be accomodating or that I can take the financial hit again... we have a life to start here - eventually insha'Allah -

okay I'm rambling now - thinking out loud with you all - to go or not to go, that is the question

Omid,

What a drive this am. Sorry to hear of the very long commutes. :( Now going to see your guy maybe is something you can do. I know I was widowed before and have two kids so I just cannot leave and that is why I have not been back to see my husband. I know it would be hard to go and come back alone but if you feel in your soul that is what you need consider it.

I know how you feel on the phones and net. We had so much trouble with the net but this past week they have done some repairs since we have been able to chat without disconnects constantly. And the phone thank you ALLAH, is working since this past weekend. I am not joking we talked for 2 minutes and then disconnect and we would recall each other and do this for the longest. I hope maybe you can get a good connection. I know days we could talk it was like I had won the lottery. At first I thought it was the phone cards, NO. Then I thought it was my landline, NO. Then I thought it was his mobile but it was his/mine/or both of ours carriers?

What ever you decide I wish you the best. And if you decide to go and visit him let us know so we can wish you a safe trip and blessed reunion.

Mary
