My fiance has two 1st names and her middle name is her mothers maiden name and of course she has her dads last name.

my question . Do we have the option to erase both of those names and use her two 1st names for 1st and middle name with my last name of course?

Or do you have to send in paper work and change that.

Hi, in Phils our Middle name is the Mother's maiden name ( surname before marriage) if we have two names like Maria Donna that is consider the first name too or you will put that in the first name on the form and put the Mother's maiden as Middle and the last name is the father's surname(last name)..check the birth certificate and passprt and look how it is written so that NVC or DHS won't confuse.

goodluck on your journey..

HOW?

Yes

She can use her first name, then her 2nd name will be the middle name. Here in the US middle name was the 2nd name and not really the maiden name of their mother, while in the Philippines we use our mother's maiden name as our middle name. Now, it's up to her which name she want to use....but if i were her i prefer to use my 2nd name as middle name.

I agree with Yankee.

Example: Maria Karla Francisco Mabulay

First Name: Maria Karla

Middle Name: Francisco

Last Name: Mabulay

Honestly, I understand you it's a bit confusing. yankee and my opinion is the same use Philippine style not Americanized. :)

here in Michigan you cant change the name on the marriage certificate. You need to go to the secretary of state and fill papers also for SS even though you may not have applied for AOS. We want to get that changed and send that certified paperwork in with the AOS paperwork.

HOW?

On your marriage license.

It's a matter of preference I think in states all up to"you". You can even still continue using you're maiden name even though you are married or retain middle name and change family name or your family name become a middle name now for as long as you have the legal docs that it's the same person .
