Latest foreclosures map

If a county has 100 households and 2 properties are in foreclosures, then households per property in foreclosure is 50.

The terminology is confusing. I'd much rather have seen properties per foreclosures, but maybe that is what they mean. The source page doesn't have any detail at all, other than this graphic.

Ok, thanks. So blue is good. Yes, not an intuitive way to present the data.

Oh, and beige is no data or what? This map blows!

Wow, this data is scary stuff. I tend to feel bad for peepz losing their homes. I know of one girl who works like you wouldn't believe and she is still facing foreclosure :(

She probably bit off more than she could reasonably chew.

Hopefully she is able to extricate herself from the situation with minimum damage and find accommodations more suited to her means.

Housing markets move a lot slower than the stock market, so rest easy. You're not gonna wake up one day and realize you missed it.

Frank Wible, owner of ReMax All Pros Realty, said homebuyers who walk into his office these days are interested in just two things.

"They all come into our office and they say, 'I want to see foreclosures and short sales,'" said Wible, whose brokerage is in Gloucester County. "They're all saying the same thing. They want the best deal coming."

Wible has plenty of company.

Across the country, homebuyers' insatiable appetite for foreclosed and distressed properties is a big reason home prices took a dive in the second quarter, according to housing data released yesterday by the National Association of Realtors.

...

Short sales typically result in losses of 19 percent of the loan amount, compared with an average loss of 40 percent for homes that are sold after foreclosure, according to Clayton Holdings, a mortgage analytics firm based in Connecticut.
