In the hope of starting an uplifting thread, please share you funny, humorous experiences once you arrived or during your trip...

Either, once you arrived in the Philippine or once you arrived to your new destination...whatever that may be.

We can all use some laughs....

well i wrote this back in dec when i first went to meet maribel, my fiancee

This is the adventures of Fitz going to see his fiancée, Maribel, in the Philippines.

I left Indy on Sat 8th Dec; I caught early flight, now this way great. I was getting an early start. That’s where great ended. Upon my arrival in Chicago’s, O’Hare airport. I was told my connecting flight to Narait, Japan was overbooked by 31 seats and I wouldn’t be able to leave until the following day. Need less to say Fitz was way less the happy. I hung around waiting for what I don’t know. Looking at the faces of others inconvenienced by the airlines fear of a flight with an empty seat. With literally 3 minutes to go my name was called and I was put on another flight.

So now you think all is well, don’t even go there. Upon our landing in Tokyo, I heard my name announced on the PA system, I exited the plane to find someone standing with a sign MR Fitzpatrick. I went to this gentleman who informed my flight to manila, the Philippines had already left. Yes again Fitz is screwed. I was then rushed to northwest airlines, not JAL, so upon reaching the gate no one knew who or what I was. So after much screaming on my part, they managed to get me on the plane.

No it’s still not over, after my arrival in Manila, and miraculously breezing through custom, knowing my fiancées was waiting just yards away, I went to collect my checked baggage. After 45 minutes of waiting and waiting and still more waiting no more bags were coming, it was then evident my bags were not coming. I went to the lost baggage area to find my bags still in Tokyo, with me in Manila, with nothing but the clothes on my back, and a few in the carry on.

The gentleman behind the counter assured me id have my bags by 6pm the next day, I called the airlines the next day to find the approximate time of my bags arrival to find , you guessed it, it was still in Japan, never left. I wasn’t the least surprised at this point. So after calling again saying why did they misinform my about the baggage, but hey you can’t fight city hall, nor the airline industry. I told them if the bags weren’t here by Monday night they would have to ship the to my vacation resort, approximately 3 hours away.

I exited the terminal to find my fiancée waiting, even though the JAL flight had already landed and all passengers had disembarked. She had called my cell phone, which was still in Indy. So after being about 1 ½ late we had finally met in person.

That's creepy in the similarities. I first met my fiancee in Dec. and I'm a Hooseir originally.

I was bumped off the plane in LA and my fiancee was pissed thinking it was some practical joke when I didn't show up in the Davao airport.

After 45 minutes of waiting and waiting and still more waiting no more bags were coming, it was then evident my bags were not coming.

My bags were on another flight, too but I got on the next flight.

I got referred to as "Joe" once in a while which I thought was funny.

We went to her mother's house in central Mindanao via a 5 1/2 hour bus ride. Fellow passengers included a Muslim with relatives in both the police and a guerrilla group. He granted us safe passage to his side of the island. I passed on the opportunity to become a hostage. Another guy was an aboriginal guy but I later met a 97 year-old aboriginal fellow walking down the road complete with a marijuana bandana and sack for his "herbs".

Sunny (her brother) I had to push a a beat-up borrowed truck to a nearby gas station. People walking along the road at night on the way there. Her neighbors were playing karaoke until late in in the middle of nowhere. The inside of the house reminded me of barn because hadn't finished the second floor. Naturally, there was picture of the Last Supper and college degrees on the walls. Sunny and his family spent their time glued to the computer playing pirated games or watching pirated DVDs. Naturally, one of the movies was Pirates of the Carribean.

It was Christmas so there were people caroling. Her mother told my fiancee that this guy takes so many photos he may a research and not a real suitor. Later, we walked around and into town. I managed to get sunburned in about an hour while walking by people drying coffee beans and nuts on the road. There may not be a lot to do but there's always a basketball court for some reason.

Oh the best part . . .we had travel back to her hometown for New Year's Day. We spent a total of 22 hours on buses. I should taken the offer to become a hostage.

ill make it fast and short. i will just go to the funny part of my trip.

FIRST: i had one kilo of LANZONES in my carry on bag, cuz ex requested for it. so i brougth some. didnt realize i fill up a card indicated i didint bring any fruits w.me. so i was kind of getting insane, didn tknow what to do with the fruits. so i went to comfort room and look for a trash bin so i can just throw it, but again i took 6 pcs of my favorite Lanzones and said "good bye to u, and im sorry i dont wannt get struck her at LAX cuz of u" :D

Second: i heading to my bagage that i even realize how could i carry all of those suitcase bigger than me :jest: so i saw this many cart with chain, and i pull one, with my surprise i wonder why i ididnt able to make it come out. when i noticed i need some quater to make it release from the chain. then i was looking around cuz really all i have is 1000 peso bill. i was really thinking how can i carry those bags by hands. so i keep looking aroung and i finally i saw a cart beside the trasg can, so i grab it and used it for free :jest: and feel sorry for whoever own it, for sure u have lots of quater.

thats just few of my funny moments abroad!
