Medical done today and Visa interview 09/09/08

I drove down to Kuala Lumpur yesterday evening, planned to go for medical check up and meet up old friends.

Called the consular office this morning, was told packet 4 has already been sent out by snail mail yesterday.

Anyway, was told can pick up a copy of the medical forms at 2-3.30 p.m. since I am already down here.

So I picked up a copy of the forms and got the medical done today.

The only vaccination needed was MMR. The medical is a piece of cake, the biggest challenge was to find my veins, the doctor had to poke 5 times at a few places on my left and right hands to draw blood ! Though had to take a cab to go to another place for X-ray, was able to complete everything before at 4.30 p.m and left the city before the after work rush hour.

The visa interview is scheduled to be on 09/09/08.

We were hoping to get the visa before August ends and fly during the first week of Sept. But the consular office has paced the visa interview quite far apart probably expecting me to get packet 4 next week and the fact that I live outside Kuala Lumpur. Since we have all the documents ready and medical done, going to call the consular office on Monday, try to see whether can get an earlier interview date.

Mel,

You won't get packet 3. We got expedited and didn't complete NVC, that's why we get packet 3.

Packet 4 contains the visa interview appointment letter, all the forms for medical checkup, and a list of possible evidences you can bring for interview.

KL consulate is really efficient, as soon as DHL delivered your package, you can call to tell them you want to pick up packet 4. Pick up time is on Mon or Fri 2-3.30.p.m. Of course you can wait 4-5 days for it to come in the mail.

There is only one panel clinic in KL for the medical, you may make an appointment, but I didn't, it's not a particularly busy clinic. The clinic is at Ming Building on Bukit Nenas, if you know where is St John Institution, it's just opposite the school. The cab driver told me it's 10 mins walking distance from US embassy if you know all the short cuts, I don't, and the weather was pretty hot, so I took a cab. :-)

The x-ray is at PKNS building at Jalan Raja Laut, next to DBKL building.

Hope that helps.

Leah
