Hello Everyone!!

I am very confused and upset right now! I called the NVC last night to try to find out information for the IV application when I mentioned that I was sending the AOS form and I needed to know if I was to need a co-sponsor when the US Embassy @ Cairo would inform me of this and the woman I spoke to told me that when the NVC submits what I sent and the Consulate thought at that time that I would need a co-sponsor by that time it would be to late that they would just reject the visa and I would have to re-file! So I'm very upset that the NVC can't tell me if I need a co-sponsor but if they submit it to the Consulate and the Consulate feel like I need a co-sponsor for my husband that they wouldn't tell me so I could get someone to fill out the form for this but instead just deny my husband's visa and make us re-file all over again???!!??? What is this! I can't believe that they would just handle it like this! Does anyone else know about this or is going through this and had to file again because of this???

Do you have one lined up? If you do, then create another I864 packet and give to your husband to take to the interview. If they request a co-sponsor then he can give them the new packet. Or you might just want to send the 1864 to the NVC with the cosponsor on it.

i don't think they will ever ask you to re-file because of financial sponsorship.

If NVC is ok with the financial sponsorship documents you submit and forward them to consulate, very unlikely, but it's still possible that the CO at the consulate wants a co-sponsor. That's what I am told, depends on the CO on the interview day.

It prob won't hurt to have a co-sponsor lined up and have the beneficiary bring it along for interview.

First of let us know, if you are below the poverty line for the last 3 years and the last 1 year. If yes, you need co-sponsor. Where is your visa process at the moment ? Is it at NVC or at Consulate now ?

Then we can reply properly.

I doubt they will outright reject it at consulate, the most, they will give out a 221-g, asking for your husband to provide a joint sponsor.

So as others have said, please do find someone who can be the joint sponsor and make sure you send the documents to your husband before his interview, or if your case hasn't yet been completed at NVC then you can send it at NVC too if they issue a RFE

if your case has been approved by NVC, there is a slim chance that u will need a cosponsor at the time of the interview. the CO will less likely bother to see all of this financial info. so as loto asked, is ur case at NVC or consulate right now?

It is at the NVC which the NVC states they can't make a decision on a co=sponsor that it is up to the Consulate.

if your case has been approved by NVC, there is a slim chance that u will need a cosponsor at the time of the interview. the CO will less likely bother to see all of this financial info. so as loto asked, is ur case at NVC or consulate right now?
