Merrill Lynch has frozen hiring until the end of the year, temporarily shelving plans to hire positions which have had received budget approval, and leaving recently-vacated positions unfilled, according to a media report Friday.

Same with my bank. We just heard it yesterday. All hires have to be approved by the Management committee first. Pretty tough, since we plan on going live with our new savings bank in October and need at least another 5 FTE to make it realistic.
