getting a passport

Hi everyone! I was really confused about getting my passport. I have a few friends who told me that I have to attend a CFO ( Citizen Filipino Overseas) Seminar before i can get my passport, is this right? but as what i have known CFO seminar is needed but only if you receive your visa.. What if i am going to get a passport and tell them i am get it for the purpose of travel abroad.. would it cause me a problem? i am not sure what to do. I hope somebody can help me.

Dec 3 got the NVC letter

Dec 18,22 Medical Exam.. PASSED!

Jan.13 Interview... PASSED!

Jan 15 Visa on hand!! soooooooo happy

Feb 5 Flight.....philippine time

Feb 5 Thanks God....wer happy together forever..

April 28, Biometrics

if you're married to an American Citizen and you decide to use your husband's surname, the DFA people will ask from u a CFO certificate before they would process your passport.

It was the same thing with me. I will just need to go back to CFO when I get my visa for my passport to be stamped.

Good to do CFO anyway and get the seminar part out of the way. One less thing you can mark off of your "What has to be done list"!

You're a K-1 beneficiary; hence, you ain't married yet. A CFO seminar is not required for your passport to be issued. :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

You're a K-1 beneficiary; hence, you ain't married yet. A CFO seminar is not required for your passport to be issued. :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

Agree, my fiance just got her passport last month, and didn't need to attend the CFO seminar. Here's a snip form the Philipppine gov web site (gov.ph)

PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS FOR FIRST TIME APPLICANTS

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Personal Appearance is required.

Duly accomplished application form.

Birth Certificate (BC) in Security Paper (SECPA) issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO) or Certified True Copy (CTC) of BC issued by the Local Civil Registrar duly authenticated by NSO.

Three (3) colored photos of the applicant taken against a royal blue background. Applicant should be in decent attire with collar. Photo must be of good quality, and must have been taken within the last six (6) months. Photo size: 4.5 cm x 3.5 cm. Facial image size: Not less than 3 cm. DFA has the right to reject photos that do not comply with specifications and international standards.

Proof of identity / Supporting documents indicating full name, date and place of birth and citizenship

Other Supporting documents.
