This question is for those who got approved AOS from "other visas". I am adjusting from I visa (media) based on marriage, and had to go through very strict procedure at the US embassy before I got it in the first place (note: before I met my fiance). Knowing that I had my job to come back to (that they got tons of info of), will that be enough to prove non-intention of staying in US?

Can anyone share interview experiences - did you have to answer questions or document intention to go back home? Is that related to people who never needed a visa or everybody? I had a plane ticket that I didn't save :bonk: , but have transit Shengen visa I used to come here - 2 entries, but second one was not used for going back home. Do you think this will be enough, along with job itself (that I left in the meantime)?

Thanks

I think is more than enought, you can ask your bosses and co-workers to write a notorized letter assuring USCIS that your relationship is valid, show bank statements from your home country that shows your intention to return and didn't cut all ties to your country.

Having a return ticket or a proof of a return ticket is also valuable. I personally adjusted from a student visa and they didn't ask to much about it, actually didn't hassle us at all. They were pretty understanding about our situation and we already received my green card.

Do a search regarding evindence for non-intention immigration on this forum, many threads can give you ideas and see experiences from more members. This forum is a rich tool to exploit. Good Luck

If you don't have any bank statements, you can ask your au pair parents to write a notorized letter for your stating that you were to stay here just for a year and maybe throw a little of how honest, sincere etc person you are and maybe mention that they now about the truthfullness of your relationship.

Also, letter of support are great affidavits. Your parents, family, friends here in the US, not just friends of yours but friends of your spouse etc. Being notorized also helps to give them autenticity.

Thanks

I just had my interview last Thursday and I passed it. I came here holding a tourist visa and got out-of-status since Feb 2005. I got married last january hence, the AOS. I've expected the question about "no intention of staying". I jsut told the officer that I honestly don't have the intention of staying since I still have work back in Riyadh, KSA where I signed a new contract plus i have a re-entry visa to that country and a plane ticket going back there. Unfortunately, only the re-entry visa is all I have to show the officer. But good thing, she didn't ask for any of the others.

i was surprised that she just asked that question for the sake of asking. That's how I see it. She was just taking down notes while I answer the question. Don't be so worried just be prepared. This website made me prepared a lot.... I've expected everything she asked me and so I was prepared on what to say.

CONGRATULATIONS!

It's always great to hear a good story like your's. I have never thought I'd have to prove anything till I read here. It's good to be prepared, and I'm happy you had an easy one. Besides former work, I have that transit visa, ticket confirmation, my phone and even home keys (they look different then american), but I am hoping I won't need any of those.
