I've noticed that a lot of K1/K3 applicants in Morocco go through AP, but that it generally last 1-2 months, if not shorter.

Why is that?

My fiance is in AP in Turkey and they are telling us a MINIMUM of 2 months wait, probably longer.

One of the best pieces of advice I've ever seen posted is to not compare your case to others' too much. There are many factors we don't know about. Amman, is usually long but my husband's was less than two weeks. Of course he used to be a police officer and his dad an engineer for Royal Jordanian - is that why? Who knows. Morocco def has it's problems (especially with cases being returned). I would be patient and happy that at least Turkey doesn't have the rep of returning files to USCIS. I know it's not gonna help much, but trust me you'll drive yourself crazy

Hang in there!

I think it's because AP in Morocco is strictly the FBI name check. Once that is clear, then the visa is issued.

In contrast, Egypt has more of an AR procedure. Not only is there a name check, but also separate verification done by the consulate as to the validity of the relationship and eligibility for a visa. That's why it takes longer. Not to mention that if the name check comes back before the investigative procedures are complete, it sometimes expires and has to be redone.

Could it be that Ankara deals with all of the Irani applicants as well as Turkish ones? On the website I thought I saw something about all Irani applicants being required to go through AP, in which case, that could be why.

You are right. I am trying to figure out some sort of rhyme and reason to this whole process, but the reality seems to be that there isn't any. It's hard for me to accept that the system can't be understood in much depth, but I'll just have to accept that and be patient.

Thanks to everyone for your input!

Cheers :star:

If this were a private business they would have had to shut thier doors within the first year. The system sucks, but unfortunately we must ride out the storm.
