Se puede solicitar seguro social si entre con una visa K-1

Hola soy argentino ya envíe todos los papeles para ajustar mi status para solicitar visa de trabajo estudio etc.. Aun solo me ha llegado I-797 con la visa de K-1 y la I-94 puedo solicitar mi seguro social????? Quiero aclarar que aun no me ha llegado el permiso de trabajo.

Puedo solicitarlo si o no?

Con la visa K1 si puedes solicitar tu seguro social PERO Depende si tu I-94 no esta vencido aun (tiene una validez de 90 dias) ahora bien el asunto es que para el seguro social debes ir con tu inexpirado I-94 como tarde 15 o 20 dias antes del vencimiento, si ya esta vencido tienes que esperar por tu permiso de trabajo (EAD) y con este en la mano podras entonces ir a las oficinas del SSN y solicitar tu tarjeta del seguro social.

Por favor completa tu time line porque es muy dificil responderte sin las fechas.

Naturalization Journey

(Day 1) 10/02/11: Application sent.

(Day 122) 01/31/12: Interview. PASSED!

(Day 125) 02/03/12: Oath Ceremony. Done!

End of our Journey:

Daughter and I became U.S. Citizens on 02/03/2012.

(Day 1) 02/09/12: Applied for U.S. Passport & Passport card.

(Day 16) 02/24/12: Passport received.

(Day 19) 02/27/12: Passport Card received.

(Day 24) 03/03/12: Got CoN back.

N-600 for Daughter

(Day 1) 02/04/12: Application sent.

(Day 117) 05/30/12: Picked up Certificate of Citizenship at USCIS local office Chicago.

Hola! Pero Eunimar ya ha enviado todos los papeles para ajustar su status... entonces, tiene que esperar por los papeles de EAD antes de aplicar por el seguro social.

Solamente se puede pedir por el número de seguro social ANTES de enviar la aplicación de ajustar el status... (Voy a leer los guides a ver si tengo razón, pero como lo entiendo ahora, es correcto.)

7/2/08 Received David's health insurance cards! Yay!

7/3/08 Went back to SSA; they said come back 7/9 if he still hasn't received it ----- TRIP 3

7/8/08 Got list of vaccines he still needed from CS by fax/phone; tested for immunity to MMR (only vaccine still needed) at our family dr

7/9 & 7/10/08 Went back to SSA, card still not received - Denied opportunity to apply for replacement ----- TRIP 4; Went back to SSA again to apply for a replacement card - Talked to a supervisor this time, POE people entered his last name incorrectly ----- TRIP 5; went to get David's ID thru the State, denied - instructions wrong on website; measles test inconclusive, another test needed; requested new lease

7/14/08 SSA called me in regards to problems at local SSA office

7/15/08 INFOPASS appt to fix POE name input error and then went to airport to fix POE name error

7/17/08 Received SSN card in mail and went to get state ID

7/21/08 State ID received in the mail and tested again for measles immunity

7/29/08 MMR shot #2 given and dropped off papers at Civil Surgeon (CS)

7/31/08 Picked up I-693, completed by local CS, (I paid $25, don't be fooled)

Guess I'm wrong. I don't know why I have this in my head...

Well, it's not your fault. There have been posts by some members who had problems getting their social security # after they got married and even after they sent out the AOS package. Some SSA offices are not very knowledgeable when it comes to when or whom they can issue a SS#.

Well, it's not your fault. There have been posts by some members who had problems getting their social security # after they got married and even after they sent out the AOS package. Some SSA offices are not very knowledgeable when it comes to when or whom they can issue a SS#.

Thanks Diana. I thought that I was remembering this from a guide though. Doesn't it say somewhere to apply for your card before you get married??? So one CAN apply for their SS# after they get married and before they apply for AOS(/EAD/AP)? As long as it's 15 days before their I-94 expires?

And we were one of those people who had major issues! Major problems due to a name entry error at the POE... :) His SSN card has the wrong spelling of his name. See my signature for our lovely list of issues.

Yes, many people just wait a couple of weeks for the USCIS to enter their info in the system and then go to the SSA office to get their SS# without any problems.
