I might be wrong, but I think RKL wasn't so much referring to his facial features as his body tone. It's not the tone of the average man in the street any more than those airbrushed models represent the reality of the everage women in the street.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

That test with the swimming suit is just stupid though - if I'm taking a test wearing my bikini I would probably not be comfortable because it's the wrong thing for the occasion, just like I wouldn't be comfortable going to a business meeting in my jeans. It has nothing to do with body image.

Brilliant observation on your part. Too bad nobody else could find any flaws with the study. They bought it hook, line and sinker.

Perfection is an impossibility for most if not all people. Note that the ancient Greeks idealized human bodies because they looked better than average. Likewise, who would give a second look to Joe or Jane Average for an advertisement? Most people end up dating normal looking people so the ideal goes out the window because few can attain it, it goes with age or Mr. or Miss Perfect Body is on an ego trip with all the eyes on them.

This should be the case. But there are a select few that just don't get it. For instance, I knew of a guy, well in his 40's, never married because he was concerned that if he got married then the "right" girl would come along, and he would miss his chance. This guy was not a looker, nor was he extremely intelligent, not even personable. So the chances of him finding the "right" girl was highly unlikely. He just couldn't see it, why? Because he saw the ads with all of the "perfect" women and thought that he had a chance.

Hey, any of you seen that show "Red neck weddings"? Now there is some people that aren't looking for perfection!

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'

One of the more stunning effects of self-objectification is its impact on sex. One young woman I interviewed described sex as being an "out of body" experience during which she viewed herself through the eyes of her lover, and, sometimes, through the imaginary lens of a camera shooting a porn film. As a constant critic of her body, she couldn't focus on her own sexual pleasure.

good, she can operate the camera then.

I watched that show once. The scariest part was the idea of those couples actually reproducing

Are you blind Alien?

Yeah, I navigate with a series of "eeks" that bounce off solid objects. I guess that makes me Batman to your Joker.

For the benefit of you sighted folks I used the words: observation, looked, second look, normal looking and eyes. Must have missed those, huh?

Have you been there Jabber? It's an awesome spot for a day out.

No... ...but out in So. Cali, you know we have quite a good selection of art museums. Norton Simon is my favorite. :)
