 yes! I think most are in off topic but it's a discussion that has come up many times. :)

While I feel everyone is entitled to their opinion, I also have to wonder what the 'haters' are worried so much about... makes you think. ;)

Maybe it's just because i'm from Massachusetts, or maybe it's because I wasn't raised to judge or hate people based on anything but who they are, but I feel like everyone is entitled to love who they want. I believe our government will get there too... may take many years... but they will get there.

p.s. no, I don't have a gay brother or sister!

Whereabouts in MA if you don't mind me asking? I'll be moving there myself. :) (probably somewhere closer to Bridgewater/Middleboro/Taunton)

Totally agree... the fact that someone can post in a forum for FORIEGN LOVE about their disapproval for same sex love baffles the mind. Love is love.

PS - Having said that, I am surprised that the process does not include homosexual couples yet. In time...

I absolutely support the right of any adult individual to marry, and excluding gay couples is just fukked up indeed.

However, immigration being a federal matter in the US follows federal law; and only recognizes marriage as a monogamous heterosexual union.

As far as hatred goes, nothing surprises me anymore around here.

I'm ashamed of so many of my peers who misuse the word "hate" (and for that matter the word "attack") instead of more accurate and descriptive terms. It seems anybody who has a different opinion on some subjects is labeled a hater. Is it not possible to disagree with legalizing gay marriage for reasons other than hate? I sure hope so because I disagree with it and don't hate anybody on the other side of the argument. Do the people on the other side of the argument get labeled straight haters or straightphobics?

Can I root for the Red Sox without being labeled a Yankee hater?

Let's tone down the rhetoric, please. Ok?

pushbrk, I was wondering when you would show up!

I so agree with you on this.

There were no negative words said about gays or lesbians. No words of hate mentioned; but because Kim of KimandRuss fame decided that anyone opposed to gay marriages is a "hater", she started the whole hive a buzzing. Its like being trapped in liberal hell!

Just like people from Boston still think the Patriots are something special, even though they lost to the poor little NY Giants!!!

So if someone is entitled to their own opinion, then why is it when that opinion differs from others, they are labled a "hater'.

What does being on a website that deals with immigration have to do with gay and lesbians? Or how can someone on a foreign love forum (whatever that is) be opposed to same sex marrige? Where is the connection with that one?

I guess the real haters are the ones that can't accept other people having different opinions then them.

My name is PlatyPius, and I support this post.

By the way..... Where have you been, monkeybutt?

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

I agree with the above. I personally don't agree with legalizing gay marriages, but I can promise you this.. I don't HATE anyone. I am intitled to my own opinions and they won't be the same as the other 5 people sitting in the same room I am. I personally don't care what anyone else does, but I do not/will not accept that in my family. But, that is my own business and not anyone elses what I will accept or not accept.

I also don't think this forum is the place for some things I see brought up here. They have NOTHING to do at all with those of us trying to find help/support for what we're going through. I know some are posted to get heated debates started and that's a shame. This whole process is scary and some of us will not be the lucky ones and will have to tell our loved ones good bye. Why not put all our strength into helping each other cope with this long process, and support each other without bringing up issues that have nothing to do with what this forum is about?

Good thing is, you don't have to be gay to be compassionate, and differentiate your beliefs from others rights. :)

I didn't mean it in a rude way. I just thought it was a good question, even though it doesn't concern me. Jeez... I am compassionate, and I care too much about other people. You seem to take things the wrong way many times.... sorry you misunderstand things sometimes, but really, not everyone means harm by what they type. Writing comments in threads make it hard to express emotion. It depends on how you read it to yourself.

Just wanted to make a statement that I wasn't meaning it in an offensive manner.

We are talking about peoples lives, not a game of baseball and who is cheering for who.

Have your opinion all you want but the fact that some people are forbidden to do something that should be their right, just as it is for everyone else, is messed up.

Just because you feel one way, does not mean you have the right to tell someone how to live their life.

I hope it changes soon, one step at a time for EVERYONE to have EQUAL RIGHTS.

Let's Keep the Song Going!!!

And THAT, is YOUR opinion, and you can have it all you want as well. It is not their right, otherwise it would be legal, so until you get Congress the change the laws... it is what it is.

Likewise, just because you feel this way, doesn't mean that everyone who doesn't agree with you is wrong.

You are telling people who don't share your opinion that they are wrong, yet you don't want those same people telling you your opinion is wrong?!!

What's up with that?

The OP had to do with gay/lesbian couples getting a K-1 visas. Since it is against Federal law, it simply isn't allowed. This issue, to me, has nothing to do with whether a person is gay or a lesbian, nor does it really pertain to gay marriages.

This has to do with immigration and the definition of marriage. As an immigration issue, I see nothing but added problems. For all the people who think the immigration process' are bad now, what do you think would happen if gay/lesbian couples got thrown into the mix?

Its easy for all the people right now who think not letting gay/lesbian couples have the same rights as heterosexual couples is wrong, to have the Federal government change the laws, and thereby convolute the entire immigration process, because they will already be finished. If however those same people were affected by such radical changes in the immigration laws and saw their wait times and fees go up immeasurably, it would be a whole different story, and they would be crying crocodile tears and complaining about how much easier it was in the past before gay/lesbian couples were allowed to be part of the immigration process.

If people would even stop and think for a moment how many new problems there would be, if every man and woman could claim they had a partner in another country, and how much harder it would be for the USCIS and DOS to try and determine if their relationships were bona fide or not, then you would start to see the actual impact to the system, because people would surely abuse the system, even more than they are right now.

The immigration process is already too expensive and stressful enough without adding even more layers of complexity to it. This is not simply a moral issue; it is a legal issue and a security issue.

As I said, have your opinion all you want, I'm not telling you to change your views. I'm saying live and let live.

You can dislike something, you can think it's wrong but there should be freedom for all.

People should be able to live their lives the way they want, and that includes two gay people who are in love and want to share their lives together to be able to marry.

Even if it takes longer, even if it's more petitions, EVEN if it delays things...EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT!

How anyone in this day and age can still think that people should be denied such a simple human right as being united with the person they love by marriage is beyond me.

There's a huge group of people that think the Creator of this world, instituted Marriage as a sacred union of a man and a woman. While they may or may not "live and let live" in many other ways, their religious convictions about marriage are as valid and to be respected as any others. I wish those who disagree or ascribe to a different set of values would live and let live by respecting the opinions of others enough to refrain from telling them what they "should" support, referring to them as haters or phobics. In short, those who preach tolerance would be wise to practice it as well.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
