Wed. 8/13, received e-mail from CIS that they were sending approval notice.

Fri. 8/15, I started calling the IVR at NVC using my CIS number (if you don't understand all these acronyms...then you should read the Wiki first).

Anyway, the IVR kept telling me they didn't have my file.

Called on Sat, Sun, and Mon.

Then on Monday afternoon I had a question that required talking to an NVC live operator.

She asked for my CIS number, I told her I didn't think it would be in her system, and it wasn't needed for the question.

She looked up the CIS number and said, "You JUST got into the system". She couldn't answer my question, but gave me the NVC number.

At this point, we're hoping to get to the consulate by Sept. 15 (cutoff date for October Interviews).

Wishful thinking, but I'm really believing in the power of positive thinking right now.

Best of luck to everyone...hope the above info helps.

First, How would you know that your case has been moved to NVC from USCIS?

Second, How long it would take for them to assign a case number?

Third, I don't know why they are so slow in age of technologies.

Thank you

Here is some information I gather well we were waiting to get assigned a case number at NVC. Hope our personal experience helps with the waiting!!

This is how it was explained to me by USCIS at the time in CSC - I used RFE line. It can take a bit too because they are not shipped overnight, they are shipped ground and it quite a few boxes. Also there can be where another case was approved after you, then their gets put on top of yours and theirs are shipped before yours  The process is all messed-up I know. Trust me I was very upset when this happened to us!! we were approved and then another but they made it to NVC within a week, but us 1 month  I was ready to get my congressman involved again because it was just sitting in USCIS mailroom (confirmed by USCIS) involved again when I got a nice lady at NVC that explained that as soon as it's received in NVC mailroom they input in their system and assigned a case number in their mailroom. So the process is slow because of USCIS not NVC. Annoying I know, but hope this helps you...

Good Luck with the waiting, hopefully tomorrow you will hear something at NVC
