Hi everyone,

My fiance had his interview in Dakar on April 29th and was put on AP. We were actually handed a receipt to come take the visa the following week. As we were getting into a taxi the guard called us back and the officer told us that additional processing was required. I have since determined, through my Senator's office, that (looking on the bright side) our relationship has been verified and all of our documents are in order, but that he is on AP for mandatory security clearance procedures. I realize that this is somewhat of a black hole with a lot of possibilities, but I'm looking for people in the same situation to get some sort of idea of how long it's taking. We know of one other Guinean who interviewed in December for an artist visa, was put on AP for security clearance, and had his visa by March. Anyone else from any other consular posts in the same situation?

My heart goes out to those that have been waiting a lot longer than we have...

Hi Tammy,

Thanks for your response. I've read all of the above articles searching and searching for information on this <insert bad words here> security clearance AP and it seems that all I could find is folks getting put into AP for document verification. I'm sorry to hear about the news today and I wish you the very best for next week. I know there are so many people out there that have been waiting much longer that us but... I've never been one to take joy or comfort in another person's pain. Nonetheless I tell myself every day that things could be a lot worse!

God brought us together, hopefully he'll let us and everybody else in the same situation be together again soon.

Inshallah.

Hi coyote, my fiance's visa has not been released yet. It will be 5 months to the day on Monday the 29th.

This summer I talked to a really nice woman at the DOS. I asked her the same question I ask every time I call, how long will this take? She's the only one that offered more than the standard "It's impossible to say." She said I cannot make you any promises but generally security clearance comes through within six months, but it is possible for it to take longer. I've also asked this question of my Senator's office, and my liason says that in her experience the most time she's seen is six months, but she's only seen about a dozen cases go through this. When this first happened, I also consulted 3 different attornies to see if anything could be done. Two did not respond, but one did and in her experience the longest time she's seen is 12 months for an Afgani man that was in exile in Pakistan. So, this all takes me back to the same place... pray every day.

I will definately update my timeline when we get the security clearance.
